Halloween always reminds me of the time I was 10 and me and my entire class were at a weekend camp. At night, a lot of people decided to come to me and my friend’s room because they wanted to play truth or dare. Eventually, it got to the point where I was telling them ghost stories.
Anyway, 10 year old me thought it would be funny to base the story on us and the place we were at. (this little cabin in the woods). I don’t remember much of the story, but I remember telling them
“On Halloween night, when the moon is bright, the monster appears. It comes in through the backdoor and if he sees a kid in the hallway, he will eat you! He will knock on your door three times and if you open it, he will get you!”
You know, silly kid stories, right?
As if that wasn’t enough of me to scare my classmates, I thought it would be brilliant to trick them. Keep in mind, I was 10 and a little shit. When people had to go to bed and it got quiet, I sneaked outside the room and to the backdoor. I opened it and slammed the door shut, and then as I was running back to bed before anyone could see me, I knocked on the other doors.
Long story short, I made 20+ kids scream and probably cry and all the teachers and camp directors had to reassure them that no one was there. Somehow they never suspected that I was the one who did it (which was obvious to me but oh well)
It was a long time ago and somehow, it became a legendary story at that camp. People keep telling it to other kids to this day. Probably my proudest moment as a kid but it was also an asshole move of me. I kind of wonder how much the story has changed after all these the years 💀
