chinese-english flashcards I found in my late taiwanese grandparents' garage. they were manufactured in hong kong, around the 1970s-80s. what stands out to me is the western clothing - from other old photos one can see that my grandparents would typically dress their two sons in styles nearly identical to the little boys in the above image, and my grandmother would wear her hair permed and short, often with a blouse and skirt like the card above.

very happy to be back to studying for my own pleasure rather than for a degree I’m feeling uncertain about - read & gave feedback on a friend’s term paper and made anki cards to get back into studying croatian - still trying to figure out how they actually work, but we’re getting there. Also cleared out my notion pages & mail account since I’m on term break now :)

Empowering a female character, watching her family rejoicing in her progress and, at the same time, inadvertedly allowing The Creature to learn how to comunicate with a world that it's foreign to him.

So yeah. As you guys may know, I lost my home and all of my belongings in a town fire back in summer. Been sleeping on the floor since then, but even as life falls apart into darkness, the light of gaming still shines through with hope

Today was all about reviewing, with a focus on Piaget’s stages of cognitive development. I went back through my notes and worked with my flashcards, repeating the key concepts over and over until they finally felt like they truly stuck

Flashcards are turning out to be such an effective way to retain information in the long term. Every review session feels like a little test that shows me what I’ve already mastered and what still needs a bit more work (,,•᷄ᴗ•᷅,,)

🧠 Thought of the day: reviewing the same topic over and over can feel repetitive, but that’s exactly what turns surface-level knowledge into genuine understanding. Piaget himself would probably say that learning is a continuous process of building knowledge, and that’s exactly what I’m doing today with these stages! (◕‿◕)

✨ Next goal: keep reviewing and, hopefully, move on to the next topic on my study list.
