I grew up smack in the middle of Nowhere in Appalachia, surrounded by woods, on a mountain, where we had two whole neighbors who were both family. No car sounds or city lights or any of that, save for the train tracks that got muffed by all the trees. In the winter when the trees were bare we could hear the cows from down the mountain. Sometimes we heard packs of wild dogs, lots of coyotes, a mountain lion one time, and when we first moved in we apparently disturbed a fox when we flattened the area for our house because he barked at our house every night.

Now, I'm in a city. And y'all. I am yearning.
