Things had returned to normal, better than normal in a way. Anders’ memory was sharper than Mahendra had ever known it to be - which made lying about minor details now impossible. An unspoken problem hung between them though, the vampire they’d both shared a bed with at different points. Mahendra could say with ease that he and Jamie were friends, that their history was ancient and meaningless after all this time. But that wasn’t true and he could see it in Anders’ eyes that wasn’t the case for him either. “I love you.” Mahendra breathed as they lingered on the outskirts of the graveyard, still on the grounds but somewhere between the palace itself and the dancers who’d been enthralled by the Embassy’s music.
Mahendra leaned over the lycan and called out through the dark as he caught sight of a familiar figure in red. “Jamie!” Mahendra yelled out, “Jamie!” The chimera called again, maybe a few too many cocktails deep to hold back.
