“I have heard stories about the Delos New Year celebrations,” Qiren admitted somewhat begrudgingly. It was difficult to pay the village any compliments given how bitter he was about being there. Crossing his arms, he looked over the lavish decorations in the town square. “I wonder if it’ll measure up to my expectations.”

Fifty years ago, a pitch black sky burst into bright purples and greens above the Kingdom of Andora. On the battlefields and in safe havens, the elves of Andora marveled at the unimaginable beauty. As the night turned to dawn, the brilliance faded, but the unprecedented natural lights show was only the first wonder of that day. By the time night rolled around again, the Blood War was declared over, and a new Queen sat on the throne. It came to be believed that the sudden burst of multicolored light in the sky had been a sign of hope from the gods. Once a year, on the anniversary of that marvelous night, the gods paint the inky black sky. It marks the new year for the Kingdom of Andora. All across the kingdom, in small villages, remote homes, and big cities alike, elves celebrate the new year of hope together. 

Delos is known for its lavish new year’s celebration, and this year’s festivities will be no different. As soon as dusk falls, the party will begin in the Town Square. Every tavern will be open, merchants will sell speciality goods, and musicians will treat the village to cheery songs of hope as the elves wait for the sky to light up and mark the start of another year of peace.

This is a dash event. It will begin on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. EST and end on Wednesday February 17, 2021. You may continue writing your pre-event threads during the event, but any new starters should be set during the celebrations. Feel free to incorporate the set up for the festivities in your current threads and starters!

The New Dawn celebration is officially over. Although the lights eventually appeared, not everyone was left with the same warm feeling that the celebration usually brings. The Kingdom can only hope that the deities still look favorably upon the Queen’s reign and that the delay in the brilliant sign of trust and hope was nothing more than a fluke. 

The event is now over. You’re welcome to continue and finish your event threads, but all new starters should take place after the celebration!

The Village of Delos is celebrating the new year with enthusiasm. As the night sky grew darker, the excitement grew as well, and the countdown to the lights began. Unlike the years before, the brilliant lights didn’t flash through the sky when the countdown ended. The inky dark remained unlit by anything other than the average stars. Whispers and panic ran through the crowd. Was this a sign that the Kingdom had lost favor with the deities? With each passing moment, tension rose. Finally, almost an hour later, the fantastic, bright greens and purples danced across the sky. The deities finally gave the Kingdom the annual sign of hope, but for the first time in fifty years, the second half of the New Dawn celebration is filled with unease rather than joy.
