Chicago / Baltimore based label Land Of Decay, run by André Foisy and Terence Hannum since 2009, announced that they will be shutting down shop at the end of the month. You can grab some remaining cassettes on sale for $4 – $5 at their Big Cartel page. We played The Subtraction this time last year on Episode #14 of the show, and definitely recommend picking up “The One Who Infests Ships” if you’re into bleak soundscapes

"Locrian is every bit as focused as is Good Stuff House on setting a mood, but their records betray a fair bit of meticulous planning and execution. Inspired equally by metal and free noise, Foisy and singer-keyboardist Terrence Hannum initiated the project in 2005, and Hess joined in 2009. Return To Annihilation (Relapse) doles out the steady stream of bleakness one might expect from a record conceived as a narrative about the earth rejecting humanity like a body might reject a virus. But while it feels doomy throughout, it keeps the metal elements in reserve. Songs build slowly upon a foundation of funereal beats and buzzing synths; Foisy underplays, slowly ratcheting up the tension until Hannum’s rare screams swoop in like a raptor dropping out of a cloud to snatch up your firstborn. Then he piles on the distortion, turning processionals into entropic meltdowns."
