Early Yzma character designs for Kingdom of the Sun, the former version of The Emperor's New Groove, by Andreas Deja
Or Beheaded! EEEEeeeeugh… “Aladdin” (1992)
I need more friends who are interested in animation and animation history because what do you MEAN you aren't fascinated with how in Kingdom of the Sun, the original draft of The Emperor's New Groove, the animator responsible for animating Yzma at the time (Andreas Deja) had also animated Gaston (Beauty and The Beast), Jafar (Aladdin), Scar (The Lion King), Hercules (Hercules) and Lilo (Lilo and Stitch). The animation he did for Kingdom of The Sun was seen as some of his best work but since they cut that movie to make a different version they also scrapped some of his best work as an animator. Like huh??????? Or just all the work that goes into animation an art alone between going to places to find authentic backgrounds and correct character proportions and how everything can fit together or the measures that can be taken and how animation is such a volatile and adaptive art form
how does none of that interest you?????

Which Disney character had the largest impact on you, either hero or villain? And which animation of theirs is your absolute favourite?
There are MANY OF THEM to be honest! And a lot of Disney legends among animators influenced my perception of animation and the creation of my own. I took Sasha Dorogov's animation courses some years ago, I was very glad to meet him (online), he showed us his achievements when he worked at Soyuzmultfilm, as well as at Disney, I was delighted. During his training, Sasha loved to talk about working with other animators, and he also talked about Andreas Deja, whose animation and concept art have a positive effect on me and are very inspiring, just like Sasha's work! So I was extremely happy to chat with Dorogov and learn even more about animation, so I can say that Sasha Dorogov and Andreas Deja are my favorite Disney animators, along with the legendary Disney's Nine Old Men! Thank you for asking such a question!

“Ollie was getting getting up there in age, and he felt like this assignment would be too difficult for him. So he called me to help out. I picked moments from the film that might make nice character portraits. I tried my best to draw "on model". It was an honor to do this for Ollie and to see my signature alongside his.” Andreas Deja
Disember Day 10: “Andreas Deja”
Andreas Deja is a master animator and one of my greatest inspirations in the animation industry, many of his works include characters like Hercules, Scar, King Triton, Jafar and almost the entire cast of Who Framed Roger Rabbit! One of his works that I discovered was being supervising animator of Mickey Mouse in the Prince and the Pauper~ 👑
I chose the Prince and the Pauper because this short was where my love for Mickey started. I was a little kid constantly rewinding the tape to watch it over and over again and I felt that it was the perfect time to honour this short in today’s prompt! 😊

Deja made his directorial debut with the 2023 animated short film Mushka. The short is about a young girl in the Ukraine who raises a tiger cub and must contend with various difficulties as the cub grows into an adult tiger. The film won awards for best animated short at several film festivals.
