okay so. when i was younger, I loved reading and so I often learnt words from reading rather than hearing them being spoken. This created a couple of. “accidents” the most memorable probably being this one:
So one fine lunchtime, we’re eating lunch and somehow the topic of my dad buying Ed Sheeran tickets comes up. He’s a pretty big fan, and we find out that he unfortunately could not procure the tickets to Ed Sheeran’s concert. Being the sympathetic child that I am, I decide that this is the Perfect opportunity to display a new word i read recently: devastated. Confident in my ability, I said “you must be devastated...”
Unfortunately, at that time I was not the Best speller and had not the best memory at the small age of 6-7, and so it came out more like: “You must be de-vasted”, and my parents thought I was calling him a bastard 😔
