T-Mobile starting holiday deals on November 21 with a free tablet

On November 21, T-Mobile is expressing appreciation to its current customers by offering early access to Black Friday deals. The carrier is taking $100 off the Samsung Galaxy S 5 and Galaxy Note 3. Even better, T-Mobile customers can pickup an Alcatel ONETOUCH POP 7 tablet for absolutely nothing but the sales tax. There are no monthly payments and not even a down payment. The following day, November 22, T-Mobile will open up the tablet offer to new customers as well.

T-Mobile notes that canceling your wireless service will cause the device balance to be due.

Galaxy Note Edge now available in the US

Starting today, residents in the United States can pick up the curved variant of Samsung’s flagship phablet of 2014, the Galaxy Note Edge, from three out of five of the largest carriers.

First up we have AT&T, who is listing the handset for $399 on a two-year contract and $945 upfront. Next plan customers can grab the handset with nothing down, and twelve monthly payments of $47.30, eighteen monthly payments of $39.42 or twenty-four monthly payments of $31.54.

T-Mobile is offering the Note Edge for $0 down with twenty-four monthly payments of $36.25. If you don’t feel like entering into a two-year contract, the carrier is giving you the option to pick one up for $870 outright.

Sprint is the third and final operator currently cataloguing the device. On a two-year tariff,the handset is priced at $429 or $840 as a one-off payment. You can, however, choose to spread the cost over twenty-four months, which works out approximately $35 per month.

Big Red and U.S. Cellular are also set to join the party in the not too distant future, and we’ll be sure to let you know as and when they do.

Prepare for bloatware with a Nexus 6 from AT&T

Purchasing a device through a carrier comes with one major downside: the bloatware. Any device, no matter the hardware manufacturer, will ship with software that just takes up space and will never be used. It has gotten better over time but bloatware is still an issue. Nexus devices always remained the exception to the rule as Google kept the experience pure and the way Android is meant to be seen. This year, the Nexus 6 will be available through select carriers. And at least the Nexus 6 sold through AT&T will be packed with bloatware. Most of them are AT&T’s, covering things like account information and navigation. Fortunately, it can all be removed (which at one point was not possible).

So maybe it is indeed a good thing that Verizon is not selling the Nexus 6 itself at this time.

T-Mobile Nexus 6 launch now pushed to November 19

T-Mobile announced via Twitter that the Nexus 6 launch will be pushed to November 19, one week later. They didn’t give a reason other than they want to give customers the best experience possible. That could mean a lot of things, but we suspect it has to do more with supply than anything else.

AT&T pre-orders are already live and Sprint will have the device this Friday. Still no word on when Verizon will carry the device, but don’t expect it to be too soon since they are in DROID mode at the moment.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge for US Cellular stops by the FCC

The Galaxy Note Edge is heading to carriers in the United States this week. AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile are all going to release the unique Samsung device on November 14. Verizon, at some point in the near future, will join in doing so. So the Galaxy Note Edge will be found the nation’s four largest carriers. There is good news for customers with smaller carriers as well.

A Samsung device with the model number SM-N915R4 showed up at the FCC. This matches that of the Galaxy Note Edge and the ending “R4″ belongs to a specific carrier. Which one? It seems that US Cellular will be getting its own Galaxy Note Edge.

The Nexus 6 in all of its color and storage options is available from Google Play. No matter what carrier you have, Google Play’s Nexus 6 will be supported with an appropriate SIM card. Carriers in the United States, though, will be selling the device themselves. Prospective buyers just won’t see the same amount of configurations on a carrier-by-carrier basis. Sprint clarified today that it would only offer the Midnight Blue model with 32GB of storage. Want 16GB? Or do you want Cloud White? You cannot have either one if purchasing through Sprint.

So, again, the Play Store will offer exactly what you want because carriers decide to make odd choices.

Google Voice adds native MMS support for photo messages, Verizon officially on board

Last week, Google Voice users noticed that MMS messages were working on Verizon Wireless. Today, it was officially announced, and Google Voice also got another very cool update for all users. Native MMS support for photo messaging has been added, meaning that users will no longer get a SMS with a link.

You need to obviously opt in to Google Voice in Hangouts. Once you have done that, just attach photos to any SMS message, and it will be delivered as a native MMS. Those of you waiting for group messaging, have no fear because Google said it will be enabled in a future update.
