I know this is a commercial, but this wasn't accidental. If the director and writer were Byler fans and Byler's NOT canon, this would be just plain malicious. And if it IS canon, then this suggests that in Season 5:

the Core Four will be nerdy and play D&D again (and another hint there'll be scenes in the basement! remember the other promo of Mike rolling a D&D die?)

Mike and Will ARE connected at the hip this season

Will is targeted by the Upside Down, and

Mike is Will's protector again.

And the trailers have been hiding the Byler parts from us. And all these things would make me happy!

(Now why would they not hide Byler in this promo? Well, this was probably shot and edited last year, and the promo team might have changed its policy since then. And one only sees romantic Byler if one's in the know. "Of course Mike and Will are together, they're best friends!" thinks the GA.)

SATELLITES BEAM DATA down to the Earth all around us, all the time. So you might expect that those space-based radio communications would be encrypted to prevent any snoop with a satellite dish from accessing the torrent of secret information constantly raining from the sky. You would, to a surprising and troubling degree, be wrong.

Roughly half of geostationary satellite signals, many carrying sensitive consumer, corporate, and government communications, have been left entirely vulnerable to eavesdropping, a team of researchers at UC San Diego and the University of Maryland revealed today in a study that will likely resonate across the cybersecurity industry, telecom firms, and inside military and intelligence agencies worldwide.

For three years, the UCSD and UMD researchers developed and used an off-the-shelf, $800 satellite receiver system on the roof of a university building in the La Jolla seaside neighborhood of San Diego to pick up the communications of geosynchronous satellites in the small band of space visible from their Southern California vantage point. By simply pointing their dish at different satellites and spending months interpreting the obscure—but unprotected—signals they received from them, the researchers assembled an alarming collection of private data: They obtained samples of the contents of Americans’ calls and text messages on T-Mobile’s cellular network, data from airline passengers’ in-flight Wi-Fi browsing, communications to and from critical infrastructure such as electric utilities and offshore oil and gas platforms, and even US and Mexican military and law enforcement communications that revealed the locations of personnel, equipment, and facilities.

“It just completely shocked us. There are some really critical pieces of our infrastructure relying on this satellite ecosystem, and our suspicion was that it would all be encrypted,” says Aaron Schulman, a UCSD professor who co-led the research. “And just time and time again, every time we found something new, it wasn't (encrypted).”

Christian mobile network will block LGBTQ+ content from users

Radiant Mobile says it will filter “harmful” material, including LGBTQ+ content, from phones on its service plans.

A new mobile phone network that launched this week claims to block LGBTQ+ content from subscribers to its phone plans. Radiant Mobile is a Christian mobile phone network that will operate on the T-Mobile network, seeking to deliver “faith-focused mobile service,” according to the company’s website. The company launched on Tuesday with support from the Israeli cybersecurity firm Allot, and is believed to be the first mobile plan aimed at blocking content it deems as harmful from users, British newspaper The Independent reported. Paul Fisher, founder of Radiant Mobile, previously told MIT Technology Review that he wanted to create a service “void of LGBT” and “void of trans.” “We are going to create, and we think we have every right to do so, an environment that is Jesus-centric,” he said.

The company says it aims to restrict access to what it describes as “harmful content,” including LGBTQ+ material, pornography, and explicit content. Even on more general websites, that includes blocking specific webpages that include LGBTQ+ content. Radiant Mobile places particular emphasis on parental controls, echoing rhetoric commonly used by opponents of LGBTQ+ rights who argue that exposure to LGBTQ+ people or issues is harmful to children. The company’s website says parents will be able to customize security settings for each child, block entire social media platforms such as TikTok, and prevent children from using VPNs to bypass restrictions. Radiant Mobile did not immediately return The Advocate’s request for comment.

Radiant Mobile, a new Christian conservative mobile wireless network that uses T-Mobile’s towers, will block LGBTQ+-related content on its phones without a way to undo them.

Wireless carrier T-Mobile says it is ending its diversity, equity and inclusion programmes, under pressure from the Trump administration as it seeks regulatory approval for two major deals. The Washington state-based company said in a letter to Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr, made public on Wednesday, that the wireless company is ending its DEI-related policies “not just in name, but in substance.” T-Mobile said it will no longer have any individual roles or teams focused on DEI, is removing any references to DEI on its websites, and has removed references to DEI from its employee training materials.
