Without you - AU drabble

Some say that people die twice. They die when their heart stops beating and  then completely when the person who loved you most says your name for the last time, but to some, death happens when the person you love slips off the earth and leaves you alone. That’s when your soul dies, because your other half, is no longer there. That’s when you know that even though you’re breathing and your hearts beating, you’re empty, that’s death to some. 

Andrew Harrington died the day his wife died. 

It was never meant to end like this, just when everything was about to begin, when they were going to build a family their happiness was taken away from them. When the blood started dripping on the floor he stayed strong, he believed they would survive, he never gave hope on her once, even when she looked at him, with her big blue orbs filled with tears, even when her eyes shut, he still had hope, but it wasn’t enough.  Losing the person you love changes you. It leaves a hole in your heart which can’t ever be replaced. You try to move on, try to forget about them, yet it doesn’t work. When the person you love dies,  the best parts of you die and giving up, giving up and letting go of life seems like the best option, but Andrew had someone else to live for, his daughter, their daughter.  The day Nicola died, she left him alone in the world with a baby girl.  Acceptance. Accepting that the one you love has gone forever is probably the hardest task someone has to live through. Andrew couldn’t accept she was dead for months, and even now, despite five years having passed, he still couldn’t fully grasp that she was just a memory now.  He lived for his daughter now, he lived in a world where his daughter was his world and nothing else mattered. He needed her by his side, he needed her to laugh at him and tell him the baby wasn’t broken. He broke down in tears the first time she got ill, he tried to stop himself crying when she did. Nicola’s voice would keep him going, make him stronger, her whispering  ‘It’s going to be okay.’ was what helped him survive.  Now, twenty years later, he stood with their daughter over her over her grave, delivering sunflowers to their dead mother and lover. Their baby always knew about Nicola, he told her stories about her, told her how much she loved her and how proud she would’ve been of her. Now, looking at her grave, a tear rolling down his face, he smiled, “I’ll see you soon, Nicola. I’ll see you soon my beautiful seeker. I love you.”

theharpieoftroy  Andrew sat up when he heard some noise a grin forming on his lips when he spotted Nicola standing in front of him "Now this is a perfect view to wake up to every morning." he chuckled "Aren't you going to join me?" Andrew smirked at the blonde.

She let out a small moan as he kissed up her back. “Yes it’s too early.” Nicola cuddled up into her pillow but didn’t move away from him. “Andrew go back to bed.”

Andrew moved his fingers along her sides tracing down her body as his lips pressed kissing down her neck. "I'm not sleepy." he whispered between kisses, moving his face back up to nuzzle her shoulder.
