Okay, you got me, where can I listen (watch?) jrwi
EHEHEHE GLAD YOU ASKED @anduwrynn !!
You can listen/watch it over on their YouTube channel here! I like to watch it here since I personally need some visuals to concentrate, and on yt they have all their facecams open so you can see their expressions as they play.
Alternatively, you can listen to it on their Spotify right over here! To start Riptide, which is their main campaign, just look for "Starting From Zero" Episode 1.
It's optional to watch the one-shot prequel "The Hole in the Sea" and "The Final Voyage". It takes place 10 years before Riptide and gives some insight, but personally I didn't watch this one until I was 48 episodes into Riptide so it doesn't hurt the main story too much (and personally I feel like I enjoyed the prequel *way* more after already being familiar with Riptide than I feel I would've if I'd saw it first). A couple of lore tidbits are outdated from it too.
BUT YEAH THATS WHERE YOU CAN LISTEN TO JRWI!!! IT'S REALLY FUN I ADORE IT *SO* MUCH!! Get a load of the worst pirates you've ever seen get up to the weirdest damn shenanigans with beautiful story oh my god
hey @anduwrynn you’re the best DM I’ve ever played with and I am constantly in awe of how creative and fair and collaborative and generally all-around amazing you are
no I’m not biased
Is "Karamore" a campaign your dming? What's it about?
okay so-
first, I hope you're okay with a long answer, because I can talk about Karamore for hours (and I have done so in the past)
now that you've been warned-
Karamore is the child (and IP) of the amazing Ghost @anduwrynn - who is our DM - and it is indeed the D&D campaign I play in
it's a homebrew mostly run on 5e mechanics, but we throw in stuff from 1, AD&D, 3.5, and even other game systems on occasion. also Ghost comes up with a lot of cool homebrew monsters and spells that are unique to Karamore. of note, Karamore is the equivalent of the Prime Material Plane, and there are several continents.
as for what it's about-- well I guess the cop-out answer is found family and moral quandaries, but that's most ttrpg games. we actually run 3 separate campaigns in Karamore, so I'll give you some background on each:
(1) The Cardinal Locks
the original and longest-running of the campaigns (a little over 2 years)
Party Members: Dorian Pappas, human wizard; Elijah Goldlove, half-elf cleric (left the party); Kis Everly Rosewood, changeling bard/blood hunter; Kaide the Storm's Voice, goliath barbarian; Magdarax Greyhorn, tiefling warlock
Notable NPCs: Knight-Captain Cassidy Conley, human paladin (deceased); Kaspar Allen Farwind, human wizard; Malamail, human rogue; Valarie Reeves, human monk; Josef Rakhaim, human fighter, Sorrice, dragonborn wizard; Captain Hollis "Fox" Reeves, human blood hunter; Praexaltus, firbolg time-traveller
Currently: the Monster God, which is both an entity and a separate plane of existence, has broken through to Karamore twice before, which ended in devastation and ruin, though it was repelled. it is currently trying to break through again, and we are in the process of reuniting a set of ancient artifacts that were instrumental in successfully repelling it before.
(2) this party never got around to getting a name not that it really matters given their fate
we played a short mini-campaign online during our COVID-19 lockdown set 80 years prior to the Cardinal Locks campaign, coinciding with one of the attempted incursions by the Monster God
Party Members: Solrysn (alias: Diabhal), drow ranger; Gwynaria, dwarf druid; Helena, vampire blood hunter/rogue
Notable NPCs: Beyro, half-orc smith; Praexaltus, firbolg time-traveller
Currently: trapped on the plane of the Monster God, having somewhat sacrificed themselves in repelling it; however, they are still alive there - kind of
(3) The Ghostbusters
this campaign started recently because of scheduling conflicts with party members of the Cardinal Locks campaign, but we all ended up in this campaign regardless, and then we were all having so much fun we decided to keep going and put the Cardinal Locks campaign on a little hiatus
Party Members: Killian Farwind, half-elf cleric; Rome Altruis, human cleric; Aeceran Mistspirit, firbolg gunslinger; Orrian Kelowynd Nightoak, elf fighter; Yowai, penguin aarakocra samurai; Umfiz (and his automaton S.B), gnome artificer
Notable NPCs: Kaspar Allen Farwind, human wizard; Malamail, human rogue; Praexaltus, firbolg time-traveller
Currently: although not initially looking for the same ancient artifacts as the Cardinal Locks, they've been clued in to the fact that the end of the world is nigh unless something is done, so they are now also searching for them, but independent of the Locks
(you'll note there are some overlapping NPCs in the various campaigns)
would you like to join the "religion" my brother started worshiping Praexaltus?
if you have any other questions, or want more lore, or want to hear some of my favourite moments in any of the campaigns (or the saddest one), or want me to ramble about my characters (or any of the characters - even the ones not mentioned), feel free to drop by again! I will literally never pass up an opportunity to talk about how amazing Karamore is.
