They came down the street with their arms locked, Ava and Jenna. Harley Quinn and Snow White, an odd pairing, mixing up with the crowd of kids and parents approaching the Rescue 2 fire house for their Halloween festivities. Ava wasn’t sure what she should expect, but she figured things were much like in Pittsburgh: the fire houses had trick or treaters, the firefighters in costume, some had horror houses or bouncy castles. She could see Bruce by the entrance of a small horror house and the girls waved at him, receiving a big smile and a wave back, and he pointed towards the big candy station by the parked trucks. Ava spotted Sean handing over a handful of Reese’s to a little boy dressed as a vampire and she immediately rolled her eyes. “Matching costumes? Seriously?” She glanced at Jenna and then back at Sean in his luscious Prince Charming costume. “Mhm, doesn’t he look dashing?” Jenna grinned and Ava made a face. “Is that his real hair?” She asked and Jenna nodded, so proud Ava would have rolled her eyes again if she didn’t think that was excessively mean. They approached and Sean’s smile went from ear to ear. “Ah, a treat for the American Beauty.” He came over and kissed Jenna dramatically on the lips. “A trick for the American Psycho.” He kissed Ava on the cheek and she pushed him away, making him laugh. “Careful with her today, pumpkin, she’s armed.” Jenna teased pointing at the bat and Ava made a huge effort not to laugh at the pet name. “Yeah, I see.” Sean chuckled, wrapping an arm around Jenna’s waist. “Your husband, the God of Thunder, is grounded in the kitchen, refilling the candy bowls.” He said and Ava gave him an unfazed look. “Nice, where’s Andrew then?” She retorted and he gave her a look before she smirked and turned on her heels to go find him.
Her heart was racing the minute she stepped away from the couple and towards the kitchen. They hadn’t seen each other since game night, Ava and Andrew, and while that had been a fun night - even considering the Jets losing the game - it had been ten days. Ten whole days without even bumping onto him in the hallways, given how crazy their scheduled seemed to have gotten, just texting each other every now and then. And ever since that one eventful whole day in bed together, as much as Ava would die before the admitted it, she only wanted to see him more. As if not doing certain things with Andrew anymore became pointless to her, even eating certain foods. And she was dying for a kiss from those lips. Sure, game night hadn’t gone completely friendly, a few benefits were involved, but that only served as fuel to make Ava want to kiss him even more. But she knew she couldn’t. He wasn’t there for her tonight, he wasn’t hers, and who knew if he’d actually end up finding someone to spend the rest of the night with. The mere thought made her throat close and Ava tried to ignore it when she entered the building and turned to her left to enter the kitchen common area.
She heard someone, one of the firefighters, chocking on whatever he was drinking when she entered and spotted David with a group of them, waving politely before she continued to the back counter where she could see who she truly wanted to see, filling up pumpkin shaped bowls with lollipops. By the whole universe and everything she believed in, Andrew looked hot. Not the hottest that she’d ever since him because Ava was still shaken by him wearing glasses, but a close second, nearly a tie. The costume had fit him like a glove and his exposed arms looked absolutely inviting, to be held onto as she kissed him and rode him. His beard had grown just as she thought it would and he looked even manlier than usual, sexy, maybe even a little bigger. Ava felt a tingle right between her legs, but also that now too familiar tightening and swelling feeling in her chest when she saw him, as if she’d just saw the only person that truly mattered. And for tonight, and most her night lately, that was true. “Wow.” She exclaimed lowly, walking around the counter to get to him and stopping a few feet away. “I knew I had skills but this? This is a masterpiece.” She waved a hand over his body with a teasing grin on her lips.
