元ネタより売れまくってしまったこの曲。
食わず嫌いの人が多いのもわかる元ネタのお姉様ヴァージョンの難解さ(それがカッコイイのに皆わからんか？)を削ぎ落とし、「あくまでも分かりやすく、美しく、美しくしました〜」が、今日Lyraが和訳するこのバンドの意義だったのかな？と思ってしまう。
そう考えるとアレンジャー(編曲家)の力量が、音楽の良し悪しを握ってる気が益々して来る。
「曲をどう料理するか？」は人それぞれ解釈あれど、詩に合ったメロディの方が良いなあ〜、と思う。
それならば、このMatthew’s Sourthern Comfort のヴァージョンは素晴らしい。
サイケデリックのあの時代は、こんなかんじだったの？と頭に世界が広がって行くから。
