I always forget how much I really love Newsies

Like, in the back of my head I am well aware that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Newsies, but passively I’m just like “oh yeah, Newsies.”

When I’m listening to music and a Newsies song comes on I’m like “oh yeah, Newsies.” But then I listen to it and I’m pulled right back in.

I went to go see it the other day, it was a big production that I took a roadtrip to go see for my birthday, and my mind was on other things the whole ride there. Even once we got to the theater, we were looking at the gift shop and I was like “yeah I’ll buy something, because I love Newsies” but the excitement was still sooo passive. Sat down in my seats and I saw the set and was like “oh my god! Neat.”

Then the overture started and the excitement came flooding in at once. Overall the production was my favorite production I’ve seen, granted I’ve only seen it live twice before that (3 times if you count the jr version my best friends little brother was in), but WOWWW. West End Newsies was good, but this was MIND BLOWING. The staging, the use of scenery, the acting, the chemistry, the orchestra, everything was spectacular. After the show I realized Andy Richardson was Crutchie and I just sat there forever thinking how silly I was for not noticing. I recognized his face and name, but I could not put my finger on why.

For the first time ever in my love of Newsies, Jack was my favorite character from this and Santa Fe was my favorite song. I Never Planned on You was a close second though. Maybe I’ll make a post about how incredible that was later.

Anyways. It was incredible, and god do I love Newsies.
