theatre newsies headcanons for my fic pretty please :3

I assume you mean like, theater drama club? If not I’m sorry

Theater newsies:

1. Race is THE tenor and annoys everyone abt it

2. Jack was a set tech but then became an actor his sophomore year

3. Medda is the theater teacher

4. They did Romeo and Juliet and Jack was Romeo, Davey was Benvolio, Crutchie was Mercutio, and Race was Tybalt

5. Katherine was Christine in Phantom

6. Specs has a nice pair of Bloch tap shoes and everyone’s jealous

7. Elmer is failing his theater class despite being involved in every production

8. Romeo was bitter he wasn’t Romeo

9. Crutchie’s Dream role is Mr. Mistoffelees

10. Les is the little sibling from elementary who plays all of the “kid” roles (ex. Baby Shrek in Shrek)

We have a fanfic blog @santafics and I recommend @pinkpotatoeszz ‘s fics if you like JackCrutchie but I don’t wanna recommend mine bc that’s chud to me

People are allowed to have different/conflicting headcanons. It makes fandom more fun. But if there is a pattern of a certain type of headcanon over and over, that says something about us, collectively, and our biases and it’s worth commenting on. At least, I think so!

Nothing makes me more peeved than people correcting each other on stuff that’s not even canon

Crutchie’s disability is fake. He was written by able bodied people who didn’t live in 1899 and who really didn’t care what he had, just that he had it.

There are inconsistencies. Bc it’s not real.

I hate seeing ppl get mad bc other people have different headcanons abt what Crutchie has.

If person A says it’s polio, they can’t get pissed off when person B writes it as if it was spinal tuberculosis.

If person C thinks it’s muscular dystrophy then let them.

If person E makes up a fake disease called JackKellyitis it’s just as plausible bc the entire thing is fake

I’m all for historical accuracy. And representation MATTERS.

But the cat fights y’all get into over HEADCANONS is wild

Body by Mother Mother is Crutchie

(Like him giving himself fully into the cause of the strike metaphorically and kinda legitimately giving his body up to the strike)

Crutchie is the sacrificial lamb of the strike

Not his idea, and he did not want to participate in the first place.

But he suffered the most because of it and was the most committed to the cause (whether he wanted to be or not)

Crutchie wasn’t among the kids who went back to selling papers, Crutchie wasn’t among the kids who got the choice of food or their cause. Crutchie was FORCED to devote himself to the cause entirely.

And yeah, it turns out okay, but what a horrific situation to be in.
