Tonight we hosted Micah Fields and Angela Mitchell at ARS. It was the first time in two years that we didn’t have microphones, but it wasn’t a problem. It was the second time in two years that we’ve had a homeless person wander in, but the first time it was an actual issue. He thought I was the preacher and kept trying to play to my religious obligations--with the end-game to make some money, I believe--but he said he wanted to share what God had done in his life with the church.
When he saw me watching him, he knelt before a cross on the wall. When he didn’t think I was watching him, he verbally harassed two women. At which point, I told him he needed to go.
“But I need to share God’s word!”
“This isn’t that kind of event,” I said.
“Well, no matter what you believe, we both believe in the same God, don’t we!?” It had the tone of a last-ditch effort.
“No,” I said. “I’m Agnostic.”
At which point, he realized he’d overplayed his hand. So he left.
