A tragedy in two parts.
My grandpapa used to always sit with his back to the wall before he had a wheelchair. He sat there so that he could keep his eye on the whole restaurant.
I think John might be a bit paranoid. Why would he sit facing this direction? He can see the whole of the restaurant if he was facing Sherlock...but this way he can also see the door. Also, sitting beside someone is awkward to talk, but sitting accross is so far away. Sitting adjacent is much better.
Need suggestions for fic title!
It's a Johnlock domestic fluff oneshot with love confessions over dinner at Angelo's and eventually a soft night at the flat
I've only got about 1600 words in but I'm aiming for about 3-4000
(reposting my reply to this post)
I was actually thinking about the dinner at Angelo’s scene last night (because is there a better way to lull yourself to sleep than thinking about a piece of media you’ve first seen eleven years ago? I think not) and… hear me out.
Let’s skim over the obvious flirtatious undertone and replay this specific beat:
John: Do you have a boyfriend?
John: Which is fine, by the way.
Sherlock: I know it’s fine.
I *can’t get over* Sherlock’s reply.
What an interesting choice of words; he could have answered in so many other ways:
he’s just said that girlfriends are not “really his area”, so “not my area either"was a possibility; or he could have disregarded John’s remark and simply say "no, I don’t have one”; or he could have jumped to the “married to my work” bit…
Instead, he replies “I know it’s fine”, and does it with a rather incisive tone. What I think Sherlock is really saying is, basically:
“Of course I’m perfectly aware that being gay is fine…
... because I am”
Sherlock has issues about sentiment (and from now on, a certain handsome army doctor - cue *gay panic*) but he never had a problem with his own sexuality or with society’s perception/judgement.
He knows it’s fine.
