The doctor smiled and put a hand on their shoulder to guide them into the ballroom. He had reserved a section of the local theatre for one of his gaudy dinner parties. The walls were lined with long tables, dressed in white tablecloths and covered end to end with platters of hors d'oeuvres. The vast majority were varied cuts of meat, though one could find the occasional vegetarian dish if they were determined.
