I will never not be pissed at the concept of parabatai
Y'all know marriages, right? (At least the concept of it, shout out to people who just want the benefits.) You find someone you really like and choose to spend your life with them; there's a ceremony and titles and blah blah blah. It's really special or whatever.
Does that sound FAMILIAR??? Because it's the same concept as the parabatai ceremony. Except it isn't.
In most countries, you can't get married until you're an adult, especially for phychological reasons or whatever. Can we please agree that a 13 year old wouldn't be mature enough to choose their life partner? Why does that only apply to a romantic partner, as if a platonic partner isn't just as important?
(This has nothing to do with sex btw, just about the responsability that comes with you know, choosing the person you're gonna spend the rest of your life next to, no biggie)
So WHY, in the name of God, you literally have to choose your parabatai when you're a child? You physically cannot do it after 18.
A few years ago, I would have chosen my childhood best friend to be my parabatai. Now I never want to fucking look at her face again. People change and make new friends, you cannot possibly expect them not to!
That's such a HUGE RESONSABILITY to put on a minor. Not only that, you can get divorced from a marriage! You can get out of it! But you're fucking magically tied to your parabatai forever. Julian and Emma are the only ones we've seen getting rid of it and they almost KILLED EVERYONE AROUND THEM.
I know there's a canon reason why you can't become parabatai after 18, but I don't fucking care. CC built this world and she could have chosen any age. It's stupid and I vote we ignore it.
