So warm
And...smelling of sardines...
Eddie smiled and took a deep breath from the blankets.
Oh, it wasn't fair.
How little he cared about smell now these days was nothing compared to the need for warmth.
And softness.
Oh, he loved warm and soft, and his boyfriend was very much that.
How cute Oswald was...is.
Scarfing down food, playing with his birds, red hair wild and messy, little honking noises escaping him...
His boyfriend was so cute.
Eddie got up and started to dress, choosing a sweater and leggings, then paused as panic suddenly fluttered against his ribs likes a trapped bird.
Something felt...off.
Happiness had a way of escaping his grasp and pain of every variety beating him back into submission like his father. Of showing him false comfort like Julie. Of failing so spectacularly like his plots foiled by The Batman.
This couldn't...no...

"You were gone this morning." Oswald hummed when Eddie returned home, now as The Riddler.
Eddie didnt answer and Oswald sighed.
"Are you hungry?"
"..."
"Eddie."
"..."
"I'll get you something."
"I'm fine." Eddie growled.
Oswald sighed again, this time in relief, but knew from his boyfriend's voice that he was tired and most likely had been crying. Oswald grit his teeth.
"Who hurt you? I'll peck out their eyes!"
Eddie paused, eyes wide. "What?"
"Whoever upset you!" Oswald yelled. "I'll make them pay!"
"Oz...no, I...I just got into my own head."
"Weh? Oh. Oh, that's..." Oswald blushed, nose turning red.
For a moment, they stood in silence.
Eddie smiled and walked over to the shorter man, kissing his nose and leaving a black lipstick stain.
"Let me change and we can have something to eat." He purred, snapping the other out of his blushing stupor.
Oswald grinned, sharp teeth on display and making Eddie's heart flutter excitedly. He bent down lower and kissed his boyfriend on the lips, tilting his head and feeling Oswald's cold nose brush his cheek.
"You're the best thing that ever happened to me..." Oswald rasped when Eddie pulled away and The Riddler chuckled.
"I was thinking the same exact thing."
