Hi Angel! I hope you have an amazing birthday :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
i don’t know how long this has been here but thank youuu B)
hellO I WANT TO READ TRC BC OF HOW MUCH I SEE IT ON MY DASH WHAT IS IT ABT (bc i actually actively avoid reading the posts in case of spoiler)
okay hope you don’t mind me answering this in public! this post has no spoilers
so trc = the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater and it is about
dead welsh kings
to be more specific, it is about this kid (nerd) named richard campbell gansey iii but we all just call him gansey because what kind of name ??. and he is searching for the dead welsh king named glendower
who is believed to be buried on a ley line (energy line) that goes through henrietta, virginia, the charming setting of our story
lots of cool magic-y stuff
and gansey has these friends (fellow nerds) who help him search for this king because they love him and he loves them and their friendship is the greatest. these friends are ronan lynch, the resident scary punk asshole who is not as much of a scary punk asshole as he pretends to be; adam parrish, who is a precious ambitious little thing who is just very cool; noah czerny, cinnamon roll.
ALSO! blue sargent who is the greatest and #goals and likes blueberry yogurt and owns a pink switchblade and is a feminist. yes.
the relationships are just really good overall
also i know the blurb about blue sargent seeing her true love dead or whatever (yeah, it’s in the summary) seems like it’s leading straight to an obligatory heterosexual romance (tm) but i swear it’s an obligatory heterosexual romance worth reading
but tHE RELATIONSHIPS are just REALLY GOOD overall like not even the romance blue/noah/gansey/ronan/adam is the best
and the women of 300 fox way!!
so basically read about these kids going to find a dead welsh king and exploring their relationship and stuff it’s really great read it
trigger warnings: gansey has anxiety; abuse; death; the sequel = ptsd.
i feel like lately there's been a rise in people saying that even though het aro/ace people are definitely lgbtq they shouldn't be able to reclaim the qu*er slur because they're still technically "straight" or whatever and tbh as a bi ace i feel slightly :// about that but yeah
growing up i had a lot of internalized acephobia; even when i identified as ace — and to be clear, i still do identify as ace — at one point i identified as a heteroromantic asexual and i didn’t count myself as part of the lgbt+ community because no one else did, no one thought i belonged there so i was just an ally for the longest time and i’d almost completely forgotten until i read that post
i still had a lot of it actually, like a while back i read a post that was like “would you consider a heteroromantic bisexual straight? heterosexual homoromantic?? how about an aromantic pansexual? [edit: sorry, i meant to write heteroromantic pansexual not aromantic pansexual my brain is so mixed up] no? so why isn’t an heteroromantic ace/aromantic heterosexual one?” and i was like ah fuck because i’d honestly never considered that idea at all but my immediate answer to the first three was “yeah” which. speaks volumes about how aro &/or ace people are thought of tbh
and as an aro ace, i still feel “less queer” than other lgbt+ people who aren’t aro &/or ace
when i identified as bi ace (right after identifying as het ace), i was happier because now i felt like i had a valid reason to belong in an lgbt+ space
also on the q slur — i don’t like how generalized it’s become?? not mainstream, exactly, bc that’s ridiculous, but “queer people” “the queer community” etc. reclaiming it, you’re 100% free to describe yourself that way but you’re also applying it to other people who may or may not be comfortable with that, and it’s gotten to the point where it’s strange that you wouldn’t want to reclaim this slur that has been used to insult you and your identity for ages
(not what you were talking about but i just really wanted to get my feelings out on it sorry)
try adsomedit to begin with. a lot of edits get tagged like that and it's easier than going through the tag just to find them because there aren't that many. also you could try going through people's blogs?
already in that tag, and thank you! <3
the help is fab (much better than the movie)
thanks syd <3 ily!
