itty bitty gripes about tetro

helloooo helloooooo i am WIDLY late to just about every controversy but i am ALSO incapable of shutting my trap. to preface i would just like to say that I ENJOY TETRO DANGANRONPA!!! i just like swilling about my favourite media in a wine glass sometimes . anynyan on that note i do in fact have a couple thoughts about A Lot Of Writing Decisions

Von's Favouritism

It's pretty common knowledge by now that Hiroaki, Wada (Pink) and Ikeda (Blue) are Von's favourite characters, so it feels like I'm another person beating the dead horse when I point out that for a series that supposedly focuses on so many different characters' POVs, there sure is a lot of The Red Guys. eg -> There's a crazily dispropportionate amount of episodes in Pink where Hiroaki's behaviour and mannerisms are explored, excused and repeated several times over several chapters whereas many others don't recieve the same treatment (coughcoughtamba). That can also go for the whole Ikeda vs Kumada conflict, although hopefully she gets more light in Ch2. Even in Survivorside, a lot of the living character are still Hiroaki-centric which feels very strange to type actually what am I saying. Hello. Hi my name is Angie. Regardless! This really became an issue in Blue's Ch1 where it's all Ikeda. It's All Ikeda Oh My God. Not only in his focus episodes, but the group focuses and being the focus of attention for several other episodes where he doesn't even feature in. I won't talk too much about this because I can't say anything that hasn't been said already. Please give me Tei and Hirose solo focuses. pleak. please . don't get me started about wada

2. Important Information in Optional Places

I'm referring to the crazy loredrops in Staffside. Now, I think extra content is impressive for any series is wonderful, but when it impacts the comprehension of the main series, that's where it gets confusing. KONfusing, even! The Ch3 Okazaki crashout was, putting it lightly, insane tonal whiplash for anybody who hadn't swam through the terminals or Staffside threads. I remember watching the Ch3 trial with oomf (hi Len) and being So Unbelievebly Lost where this stalking subplot came from, especially since it hadn't been expanded on before. It's unrealistic to expect an audience to do homework to understand an unavoidable plotline in the main series. I do not read Staffside, I do not read the Twitter threads, I do not read the terminals of EVERY character and if I see another plot that requires scrolling through month's worth of google docs and vagueposts, I KILL myself .

I jest. Kind of. The point is, I don't think it's entirely ridiculous to want main content in the main series. What with the Ninomiya & Okazaki lorebomb, transfem Wada and Isono's Entire Character, there's so much that's not in the main series that if/when it ever gets adressed in the main series, it gets very confusing very quickly if you haven't read A) every terminal B) the wiki C) three staffside documents and D) some Vontumblr vaguepost from 2023. I'm being hugely hyperbolic, but I don't think I'm entirely unjustified in saying that I would like to understand mainseries content without picking through Every Staffside Ever.

and another thing? so many online fandoms are so crazy insufferable because y'all are terrified of melanin. there's this weird internet phenomena of actual racism getting downplayed because it's full of white people either not understanding the severity of a situation or just brushing it off entirely which sucks either way. ok guys let's cancel this guy because they said they hate cats or something and not their burning hatred for an entire racial group
