@nikkyatyourservice continued from x
Nikky already looked like they had helped themselves to the bar’s contents. Rasul wasn’t surprised nor judging of this fact. If he had been here for any other reason, he would’ve made himself at home in the bar and drowned himself in half of it.
“I don’t,” he grumbled, scowling as he refrained from huffing. Setting the bar on fire would not help him here. But no, truth was he had no interest in robotics. Merc certainly would’ve been, but she was both the reason why he was here and why she wasn’t. Or even knew he was here in the first place.
“I think I’d torch the thing if I took it off.” A smoke break did sound like something he desperately needed, if only so he didn’t set himself on fire in the process of looking for his target.
Target. The thought made him curl his lip, something sinister and dark and angry.
He turned on his heel towards the back door Nikky had nodded towards, barely even glancing over his shoulder at them.
“Well, let’s get smoking, then.”
Because right now, he only wanted to set the entire building ablaze, and everyone in it. He needed to step away and recollect himself, and if Nikky’s tispy chatter was enough to keep his rage rooted then he will bring them along as well.
Alien: We have your son. Jean-luc: But I don’t have a son. Alien: Then who just spent tree hours watching Young Sherlock Holmes and playing with the neighbor's cat? Jean-luc: Oh my god, they have Data!
Anyway, are we talking about that one episode in which Picard went to the Holodeck to watch Data rehearsing a Shakespearean play and he was so proud of his performance that he INTERRUPTED THE REHEARSAL just to pop in and tell him HOW WELL HE WAS DOING? Because this is the type of wholesome Dad!Picard content I signed on for, tbh
Captain Picard after Data escaped Kivas Fajo and came back to the Enterprise, proving the greatly exaggerated rumors of his death to be exactly that:
If you ever doubt for a second that TNG writers meant for Captain Picard to be Data’s father figure, remember that in The Ensigns of Command there was a subplot about Picard feeling guilty because he attended a concert in which Data was playing the violin but had to leave because he had matters to attend to in bridge, leading Data to believe that he left because his playing wasn’t good enough. Bitch, that is some basic father/son interaction if I’ve ever seen one. I’m not even joking. This is a prime example of the I’m A Shitty Work Alcoholic Dad But I Love My Son And I’m Trying My Best trope.
So I just saw a TNG episode in which Data’s mind was taken over by a rude, egocentric asshole looking for immortality but Captain Picard failed to realize this because he was convinced his android son was just going through puberty.
...
I love this series.
Can we like... stop with the fallacy that Picard doesn’t like children? Because, uh, I think it’s quite clear by now that’s absolutely not true. Literally all the crew of the Enterprise are his adopted children.
