The most hilarious thing about this exchange is that it took McCoy this long to figure out that he was, in fact, not talking to a human. I don’t know if this speaks very well of Data’s ability to pass, or very bad of McCoy’s perceptions.

Anyway, are we talking about that one episode in which Picard went to the Holodeck to watch Data rehearsing a Shakespearean play and he was so proud of his performance that he INTERRUPTED THE REHEARSAL just to pop in and tell him HOW WELL HE WAS DOING? Because this is the type of wholesome Dad!Picard content I signed on for, tbh
