“Rhett!” Link’s voice had that dangerous edge Rhett knew all too well. He propped up the surfboard against the side of the van before hesitantly stepping to the open door.

“Yes, my darling?”

Link’s eyes flashed with annoyance.

“How many times have I told you not to leave your clothes on the floor? There’s literally three square feet of space, you can’t keep doing this! I almost broke the fan when I fell!” A nasty bruise bloomed below Link’s eye and Rhett’s stomach sank. He climbed into the van, crowding Link against the small cabinets.

“Baby,” Rhett whispered, gently cupping Link’s face to inspect the injury. “I’m so sorry. I got so excited about the waves. Did you ice this?”

Link kept pouting, but slowly, he leaned into Rhett’s touch.

“I did. To be fair, I was looking at my phone,” he said with a sigh.

“I promise to do better,” Rhett said, ducking down to press soft kisses around the bruise. Link’s eyes fluttered closed. 

“A kiss will make it better, yeah?” Rhett murmured against his skin.

“Hurts here too,” Link said, pointing down.

“Aww, you poor thing,” Rhett said with a smirk already lowering himself to his knees.
