Hahaha…..so this is long but…..Once Upon a Time….

I met my bff in high school,she turned me into anime trash, and Utena was our absolute favorite series. Our senior year the movie was announced AND Anime Central had Ikuhara and Saito as guests. WE WERE PUMPED. We made costumes, somehow convinced our parents to let us go, and toddled off to the con.

We weren’t big name fans but the bff was friends with a bunch of them…..which was fortuitous because one of them was working the panel with Ikuhara and Saito. She arranged for us to meet them after. We got dolled up in our costumes and went. During the panel Saito said something like she designed characters who had great legs or only people who had great legs looked good in her costumes. she turned to us and smiled while the translator did their thing. It was super flattering.

Later, like three years down the road, the bff emails Ikuhara …..I can’t remember why or how, but he responds and they chat. When she went to study in Japan they met up once or twice…..we both THINK they were dates but he’s a weird dude so who knows. I prefer to think they were because her description of them was kinda hilarious. Their email correspondence was great too.

So, not super thrilling but the whole thing still makes me laugh every time I think about it.

And yes, Anhaga is out on the 23rd. And it’s technically the 23rd here in Australia, but it’s still the 22nd in the US, so I have no idea at exactly what time it will be available everywhere!

At the moment I’m working on the third Dark Space book to end that series. Shit just got really weird, NGL. So hopefully I’ll get that out sometime this year–it’s self-published, so the schedule is entirely dependant on whether or not I get my arse into gear and finish the damn thing! 

On my list after that will be the third Emergency Services book, which I keep stopping and starting and for some reason changing where it’s set. I really gotta pin that down, lol! 

And I’m doing this while fighting off an unexpected attack from some steampunk plot bunnies that keep screaming ideas for a trilogy at me. Those bastards! 

But the next official thing is out on July 23, of course, with this:
