I understand that I’m singing to the choir and repeating what has already been said here, but in wake of animalanon deactivating it has to be reiterated that this is not an isolated event. 

I have been part of the tumblr swiftie fandom since 2013 and there has never not been a time where kys and other hate messages were being sent. Like people here will pretend that it started in 2017 or even more recently, but the truth of the matter is that that’s when people sending hate got bold and the “big” blogs started copping the most of it. Before that most of us smaller blogs, and especially those with unpopular but ultimately harmless opinions (liking RED over 1989, not liking Calcium Harvest when they were dating etc) were getting them at least daily with no support/counterbalancing asks to remind us that we are wanted here. 

And I don’t say that to be bitter, I say it to show just how ongoing this is and how vital it is for us to be a community. And I will say that I think the community part of that has gotten better over the years and things like event nights and the discord have really helped with that. But to mirror the sentiment of other posts’, it’s not enough and we need to have each other’s backs with this shit and support each other whenever we see it. 

And like I’m not excluded from that. I’ll admit that the 18 months of kys and other hate messages I personally received have left me desensitised, but it is at the point where this is so widespread that we’re not going to have a fandom if it keeps going the way it is. And unfortunately I do not just mean in deactivating. I know for a fact that we have lost some of this community to death through their own hands due to the hate and almost lost so many more, myself included. Like the irony that the fandom who almost lost their stanned artist in 2016 to this shit is going through this isn’t lost on me, but ultimately we can’t just let this keep happening. I’m not saying that I have all the answers, but something needs to change and god I hope it does soon.

Hello all! The animal today is a black cat in accordance with Halloween and (more importantly) Midnight's release in less than a week! I think we have an exciting week ahead of us, eh? So I want to know, what is your favorite thing about release week? Mine personally is being surprised by all the little fun things Taylor does during the week! And of course getting new music (duh?) So what is yours?

Let's share what we're most excited for this week and remember to tag animalanon (if so desire) so we can all share our excitement for this new album and show Taylor (and each other) some love! And remember, each of you are wonderful and deserving human beings who are very much loved 🥰. Now let's have a party!l (squirrels are not invited) 🥳 🥳🥳.

I have to agree, it’s all the little surprises! I love finding out how the track titles fit into the songs (it’s so satisfying when you can hear the lyrics/rhyme scheme setting up to drop the title). I remember listening to Mirrorball for the first time and being like ooooh “I’ll show you every version of yourself / I’ll get you out on the floor, shimmering beautiful / when I break it’s in a million pieces / etc.” It’s why I’m so confident when we listen to Midnights we’ll be like, “oh, obviously, that’s why it’s called that!” And then I also love the few days after when your brain is playing snippets of all the songs at random even though you don’t quite know the lyrics yet :’)

NOT THE SQUIRRELS 😭 We actually have one of those squirrel-sized picnic tables for them 🥲 And there’s a tree with a hollow in it by my house where sometimes you can see one sunbathing with its head sticking out <3 I know some big city squirrels are built different though

HIIIII!!!!! How have you been?!? Ahhhh yes what a week!!! How is it only a week now seriously I thought Oct 21 was foreeeeevveeerrrr away but now it's all happening! I don't know what to do with myself!!!

So I think for me um... besides *same* with just being hella excited for new music and to hear each of these songs seems especially? ??? I dunno like? ?? Knowing the story that they're each about a specific night? ?? LDR?!?!??? Still yet unknown surprises??? So much to unpack, so many songs we know will be instant faves... so yeah I think besides the new Taylor content; I'm really loving all the clowning with everyone and seeing the funny memes, posts, and creative and beautiful edits and art that Swifties are putting out there! It's so fun, I love us and all the Swiftie things we do when it's new album time. The absolute insanity. It's great
