Many People Know Less Than They Think About Animals! Learn Animal Facts and Amaze Your Friends and win on quiz shows! Example 1 - Gibbons: There is a whole line of shirts for sale purporting to show gibbons. The problem - they all have tails! Gibbons are apes and don’t have tails. What scientifically illiterate group would market a whole line of shirts with the main focus being a gibbon yet showing a monkey! We need better nature/wildlife biology education! Example 2 - Pronghorns A question on Master Minds asked what the fastest land animal in North America was. They even said it is sometimes erroneously called an antelope. No one got it right one contestant said Elk and the “Master Mind” said caribou! Everyone should know that the answer is pronghorn! Come on educators and naturalists, let’s aim for a more literate population when sharing information about wildlife! Here’s a start!
