MAX. As many of you know, my last day visiting the Yellowstone area, turned out to not be in the park itself, due to flooding and landslides - a natural disaster the area hasn’t seen in a great many years. I did have to flee the Paradise Valley, but it gave me an opportunity to visit a grizzly bear rescue near Bozeman.
Max was born on Unimak Island, Alaska. He was orphaned and found surrounded by dogs in a village. Some kind people rescued him, and ultimately the Montana Grizzly Encounter was asked to give him a home.
When I saw Max, he took my breath away. Rarely have I seen such a stunningly beautiful animal. I was mesmerized. I could have watched him for days, but due to the weather, I had to run grab my things and get to Bozeman for a flight. But someday, I very much hope to see him, and other bears at the rescue, again. Many thanks to people who care enough to rescue animals, see them to safety, and give them permanent homes.
