The worst part, by far, about writing for a newspaper were the deadlines. Wendy loved writing at her own pace, taking her time with her creativity. Her college classes, of course, posed deadlines, but her professors were usually willing to extend for the sake of writer’s block. The news, not so much. She’d stopped midway in the park on the way home from campus when inspiration struck, and Wendy found herself pulling out her laptop to begin typing. She wasn’t sure when the person beside her had sat down, but as she put her closing together, Wendy finally turned and acknowledged them. “I’m sorry to bother you, but would you mind, um ... reading something for me? It’s not long at all, I just want to make sure it makes sense. I’d normally ask my coworkers, but it’s due in ... fifteen minutes.”
