Final version

Well, as I thought even after finishing the animatic it still looks worse than the first one. Main problem is the inconsistency in the faces. I cannot draw faces properly even if i am still learning it. If you look at one frame and then the other, you couldn’t understand where is the main character and where is not. No mater how hard I tried to fix it I couldn’t. The whole animatic seemed to be not working in general. Plot is also pretty weird.

However if I must speak about good parts, I like how I managed to make the fire animation and some poses in the animatic. They look extremely good. Also I like how I managed to add more animation with program and not struggling to draw each frame by hand. We can’t forget about how I also added some backgrounds to this animatic. The world feels a bit more complete, and if I choose to proceed with this animatic it will be easier

Current progress + thoughts

Again a week pass and I managed to finish only half of the animatic, which is very much disappointing, as well as how this animatic turns out. I really wanted to make the idea with my characters from the book but I couldn’t find any audio for that so I had to settle on the idea with betrayal. Also I didn’t put any plot twist, so the character just had enough and turned evil.

On the crit I again got told not to make music video, however I am still not sure what I am doing wrong, since as I explained music is just helping animation a bit. I didn’t do lip sync like in last animatic. Maybe next animatic cam be better in the matter of sound

For now we only have this, but it sure is my least favorite animation. Not sure if I can even improve it in any way. I think the whole concept just didn’t work out

Animatic 2 - Growth and decay

Ideas, Inspiration and music

For the second animatic I decided to choose theme Growth and Decay. I wanna show a tragic story where the main character is a wanna be hero, but when she finally step up to become one, she is faced with lots of disappointment. As we know the world is usually cruel around us and if you ever think that it is sunshine and rainbows you will get disappointed, facing the cruel and cold reality.

For inspiration I decided to look into some other animatics that I know of, where characters becoming evil somehow. For example this one shows a tragic story the main character gains his power on accident and after some unfortunate situations turns evil. Since I have yet not decided how my character would become evil exactly, this might be a good choice as of why

This is an animatic from one of the fandoms I am in. I think that it is fitting the theme as well. It might be hard to understand not knowing the lore of that fandom to get what is in that animation. If I would to say it simple: lots of problems make you sad or bad. It is kinda like the first animatic with the evilness coming after some unfortunate events

This animatic is also from the same fandom as last one. However, here the way of villain is different. Technically the main character doesn’t want to do anything bad, but some unseen forces that are in his head, takes control of his body and make him do bad stuff. That could be an interesting plot twist in this story. Just making an animatic where character “becomes evil” but in the end it turns out that they were controled by someone else and they regret their actions deeply.

Finally we come to music. This one reminds me of the book that I made last year and I think I can make the characters one from there. Maybe even a story, how the main character was betrayed, gained power and came back for revenge on the villain. So the cool beats after “this time you crossed the line” can be an indication for epic fight scene. However I am not that proficient in drawing something dynamic so I will have to think a bit more about all of that

Hello, I am an MA animation student and this is my first post on this blog.

In its entirety this page will be focused on my work as animator in University of Hertfordshire and showing my work and assignments that I will receive during this year of studies.

This blog is a combination of animation studies and context studies so everything will be divided with tags, so if you need to search anything regarding specific studies you can find the tag bellow this post.
