Mordecai Heller's Study
I find really impressive how Lackadaisy handles timing, and squash and stretch. I feel like if there's something Lackadaisy mastered visually, 12 principles wise, it was timing. It makes every mannerism phenomenal and so full of life! It is absolutely worthy of being a case study on timing. I also like that I didn't catch any smears, and how subtle the squash and stretch were, adding to this realism. Lackadaisy generally has very grounded movements, but absoluuuutely takes advantage of Rocky's theatricalness and has its fun with it.
It's also a really strong indicator of its quality alone that each character moves so drastically different, with different postures and timing. Viktor moved much much slower and subtler through the entire short, there was a moment where the only thing moving was his head! this was much rarer for Rocky, he's swinging from one side to the other nonstop. I feel like that was a beautiful adaptation of their mannerisms from the comic, I remember someone telling Rocky "maybe your wound would heal faster if you stopped moving your face so much!". it imediatedly makes me think of the scene on the previews right after this when he waves to viktor, and then his smile just falls and he stands straight, he moves so much that the lack of movement and just a normal pose feels stiff for him.
God, I still want to go through the pilot and previews, studying them as well, as if i don't even have my own short to give my time towards...
