Hey ! I really want to start animating ı dont know where to start , can suggets me about animating?
Btw ı love your art and account 🎀
Start with the parts you really visionate NOT the begining.
Plan your animation and clean the parts you're confident are ready
The more you achieve the more you'll want to continue. Dont start smooth start by blocking out the poses and moves then make transitions from a shot to another
If youre confident in your anatomy and dynamic poses then use different angles to keep yourself entertained
hii!! your hermitcraft animations (+ others in the community) have inspired me to start making animatics of my own ... but like, i dont know how to start lol
i know this is probably an annoying question because artists ALWAYS get asked this, but which animation software/app do you recommend? i currently use ibis paint for illustrating but it doesnt allow u to put audio in animations... so that sucks 😭
speaking of that,, how do you get the audio from hermit's episodes/videos, and sync it up to your animation? is it a screen recording, or like, do u download the video orr?? idk
anyway yeah SORRY 4 THE QUESTIONS i'm just really new to this so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! ^_^ your art is super fabulicious and awesome HAVE A GREAT DAYY
You are ABSOLUTELY not annoying buddy! I love sharing my knowledge!!! :D 💖
1. Any clip that is particularly funny to you that sticks out for some reason is always a great choice! Especially if it would be even better in animated rather than the raw gameplay!
2. I use Procreate Dreams! It’s really nice to use with the biggest downsides are not having a lasso tool, fuzzy lines the more zoomed out you are, and audio skips.
3. Audio itself: I screen record what I want and I put the recording into CapCut where I then cut it down to what I will need and add whatever I may need. Then I export it (at 24 fps) and crop the video itself to make the file smaller so it keeps the Procreate file smaller when it’s being exported(otherwise it takes years to export my animations)
Matt ik you probably been asked this many many times.....
Do you have any tips for animation?
(I feel bad for asking this idk why)
I have actually never been asked this lmao ur good 👍
I honestly don’t have a lot to give since I have mediocre animation skills (I don’t play by the traditional animation “rules” oops) but I CAN show you how I animate the silly eye blink 😋
Have ur silly ready (I’ll be using this Raph cuz it was so funny to me)
Copy-paste ur frame so you’ll have 5 frames 🫴
leave the first one as-is
then go to the second one and slightly squish the eyes and eyebrows down a bit (blue lining = the the previous panel)
Squish down and stretch slightly outwards so it gives the squinting illusion 😋
next, erase the eyes and draw them closed‼️
The eyebrows shall be arched down like mad eyebrows to show the eyes have closed (doesn’t have to be SUPER exaggerated, can just be a slight tilt of the eyebrows)
the next frame, copy-paste your first frame with the normal open eyes, but THIS time you squish it
Slight stretch UP and squish INWARDS, to give it a cartoony bounce when the animation moves
final frame, the easiest one, copy-paste the first one again‼️
it should look like this (without the onion peel blue line):
Add as many frames as you need to keep the character’s eyes open after their blink and this should be your final product‼️
Woah‼️
if you’re talking about MOVEMENT then I’m just as clueless as you
Throws a timelapse at you instead:
I drew the KEY movements Leo was supposed to hit, and then filled in the rest of the empty areas with the movement to get from frame A to frame B (this was a test because movement animation is NOT my thing)
you can also “cheat” the system in animation by giving it the “smooth movement” where you only move the lineart SLIGHTLY so it looks smooth 🙏 (idk if it makes sense, i have no idea how to teach things, I think you can see it on the timelapse tho)
thankyew for the ask‼️🫶
(If you're talking about like the TAIL animations though, those you have to draw every. single. frame. different. so it flows.)
anni in the best way possible your animatics sometimes reminds me of those gacha videos where sometimes if they wanted to move the character in one direction (right for ex) they’d move it in the other first and then move it in the direction they want (so like go left one and then right two even if it couldve been just right one). idk if this makes sense but i really like it
Hehe, What you’re describing is an animation principle called Anticipation. It’s the preparation movement or frames before an action happens.
For example, a person squats down before jumping or tilts backward/downwards slightly before sprinting forward.
The key is that anticipation typically moves in the opposite direction of the main action. It can applies to everything, the stronger the anticipation, the more exaggerated and cartoony the motion feels. And the smaller the anticipation, the more stiff or more realistic.
Hi guys! Working on this one mini fight animation with Hornet and the Knight. Shading and rendering are not done yet, and neither is the background (if I decide to do one).
I need some tips for when she dashes forward. It looks weird when she crouches down and choppy when she dashes forward.
This was one of my favorite scenes to do while working on Captain Underpants. It presented a problem though: In three seconds Cap needs to enter through a window. Fall. React. Get Up. Hide behind a TV. How do you cram all that in such a short timeframe? Easy. Ask Team Rocket.
Wait, that's not them. How about....
That kinda looks like them. Play the footage.
There we go! I love how Meowth is animated in perspective but these two just WOOP right up. These early episodes are full of animation cheats that add a nice snap and comedic feel.
There's barely any inbetweens in this scene! I had none for Cap getting off the floor nor when turning around with the tv. Pressure can aid an artist in finding creative solutions for tight schedules.
