This is a busy time of year, so I wasn’t going to recommend anything this month. But then I found Sunspots, Craters and Mortal Things and I HAD to make some noise about it.

What it’s about: Sun and Moon are suddenly overwhelmed with big changes in their lives. They’ve been given extensive upgrades, a new upcoming acrobatics show, and a new handler all at once! As difficult as it is to balance all this at once, if they don’t get it right they’re at risk of being reset entirely.

Why you should read it: I am in love with this fic. This is the kind of fic you start reading and just go “Ahhh, here it is, the good stuff!” The writer is very skilled and puts their wide vocabulary to excellent use without getting too flowery. Even if you’ve read a million DCA fanfics, the way this one is written will make it all feel brand new again. This is also a rare Sun and Moon POV fic, meaning we get to see everything from their perspectives! Sun, Moon, and their new handler are all written in detailed and nuanced ways and I fell in love with all of them right away. This fic is an absolute joy to read, and has immediately become one of my new top favorites.

Yesterday I was ridiculously self-indulgent by posting my own fanfic, so hey why not be ridiculously self-indulgent again today. Have some Late Night to Early Morning!

I’d normally consider this too big a fic to be recommending on my blog for lesser known fics, but you know what? It’s my blog and this fic is one of my all time favorites, I can link it if I want :D

What it’s about: You have been hired to work with Sun and Moon, and you are hyped. You throw your entire self into spending time with and helping the boys, who haven’t exactly been treated well by staff in the past. All they need is a little kindness. (And maybe the same goes for you, as well.)

Why you should read it: No other fic has made me feel quite so “this is EXACTLY what I wanted!” as this fic. I love how this Y/N is patient with them, explaining things clearly instead of getting angry or throwing a fit. Disagreements in this fic are worked out with level-headed people clearly explaining their feelings. I love that.

This Y/N is also highly protective of Sun and Moon, which is something I think we all feel. If someone so much as looks at these boys wrong then they are going to get a talking to.

Whoops, been juggling a few too many things and let this fall by the wayside for a bit. But we’re back today with What’s it Called When Light Hits a Prism !

What it’s about: You’ve been hired to assist in the daycare, but Sun and Moon are making things difficult. They have the daycare running just fine on their own, and don’t want you or any other employee around. You are completely oblivious to their hostility, just trying to get through each day.

Why you should read it: In addition to being just a well-written fic and fun to read in general, this fic features a realistic depiction of a Y/N with autism. Y/N here isn’t just quirky, they are struggling incredibly hard with basic social interaction and self esteem. This fic isn’t just a big doom and gloom pity party or anything, but it doesn’t shy away from how difficult it can be to navigate the world when you simply can’t understand a lot of social structures that other people take for granted.

Notes: I was hesitant going in to this one, as I don’t particularly care for fics where Sun and Moon are cold or rude to the protagonist. This one ended up not being as painful as I feared though, there are no moments between Sun/Moon and Y/N that felt too miserable or unbearably cruel. And they won’t be so cold forever, of course. If you’re hesitant to read for the same reasons, please give it a try.

Today’s fic is Rest and Rehabilitation. (And once you finish that, check out its two sequels- Successful Reboot and Application Recovery!)

What it’s about: The Pizzaplex is trying to get everything ready for a grand re-opening, which means fixing the dangerous behavior still displayed by several of the animatronics. Dani has recently been hired to help get Moon under control, and she’s ready to do anything to get through to him.

Why you should read it: This series is a wonderful adventure, with both tense plot elements and adorable fluff. It features the absolute softest and most precious soft Moon I’ve ever seen. Later in the series we also encounter Michael, who is such a fun character here that he is capable of completely stealing the spotlight whenever he’s in a scene. If you’re a soft Moon fan, this is going to melt your heart.

Notes: This fic was written in an extremely laggy word processor, with the writer taking a “Speed over spellcheck” approach. To read this you’ll have to deal with a lot of misspelled words and the occasional missing one. While normally this sort of thing is a sign of bad writing, this fic is the exception to that rule. Please give it a try anyway! This fic is A RIDE and absolutely deserves the benefit of the doubt.
