AniMedia East Cosplay Party - York Tavern  - 21 Nov 2015

The last AniMedia East meet of 2015 was a little turbulent! We lost one of our favourite venues for hosting indoor meets, The Griffin Pub in Norwich, but luckily we had the York Tavern offer us a space at the last minute!

The day was filled with people gaming, either handheld or using a console, Sak ran off some AMV’s for AMV:UK and brought lots of geeky goodies for people to buy including figurines (one of which now lives in my cabinet!) and we also had the attendees bring their items they wanted to sell and find a new home – oh and people brought cakes to sell for charity.

We had a successful Super Smash Bros Tournament with Flickie crowned champion and we finished the day off over burgers at the pub.

Safe to say, the struggles on finding a new venue may mean less AniMedia East meets in 2016, but I hope the next meet will be just has fun filled and will likely be around the summer time when things get warmer! http://animediaeast.webs.com/ Oh and this is my fav photo from my cosplay shoot on the day! AniMedia East Cosplay Picnic - Waterloo Park 22 Aug 2015

Our AniMedia East Cosplay picnic in Norwich for the summer was held at Waterloo Park and it was an eventful day! We took to the grounds to play volleyball and badminton and ended up spending most of our time chasing the volleyball out of the fountain!

This wasn’t the first time holding a picnic at this park, we have been there a few times before due to he beautiful surroundings and the local amenities like a chip shop / corner shop and resident ice cream van!

We held a little quiz in the afternoon and shared around snacks and cakes that we baked for charity! All in all it was a very peaceful and fun filled day, roll on the next one!

Cosplay meet and PARTY! 21/11/2015

Our final Cosplay meet of the year will celebrate with a fun party after a full day indoor meet where we will be running a gaming tournament, showing AMVs and allowing people to Bring and Buy goodies! We hope to give attendees a memorable day and a safe place to cosplay with friends. Please come and support your group AniMedia East! As always cosplay is optional but always encouraged. The Griffin Pub - 12 mid day – 10pm **Event is for over 18s, so if you are under this age you must have an adult with you.** **Those people with disabilities must bring their own chaperone to accompany them.** **No cosplay props or weapons are permitted – unless given consent by Raye Springall or Mark Harper .** **You’re responsible for your own possessions and any damages.** Bring and Buy!! Instead of a charity auction, there will be limited space set out indoors for Bring and Buy – all items must be brought on the day, and must be marked up on arrival using the provided labels to the exact amount for each item. This way we can log and pay accordingly. If you want to give proceeds to charity we will be raising money for E.A.C.H. Feel free to post beforehand on this event page, any items you would like to share to get any interested people before bringing. This could save you bringing larger items! Cake sales will be available on all day – proceeds to E.A.C.H. Feel free to bring your own, or even savoury snacks. Tech: AMV’s to run on separate TV screens by AMV: UK – John Sakuraslight Astle is open for AMV suggestions. Tech: General gaming area open all day with Daniel Heath running it all on Raye’s TV – Tournament (likely SuperSmashBros on WIIU) will be at 3pm sharp! **Bring your 3DS consoles to swap data! Gaming will be available all day in between times events. Timed schedule 12 open – Welcomes – Game sections set up, Bring and Buy tables and labelling, cakes ready. 1pm Lunch – And a chance to sit down and watch AMV’s by AMV:UK After lunch - Photoshoot – Speak to Mark to arrange shoots. 3pm Gaming Tournament – A chance to show off your gaming skills! Bring your Amiibo’s for some super smashing fun! 6pm Dinner time (food may be available at the bar, but if not there is a chippie and supermarket nearby). After dinner…. The fun doesn’t have to end yet…Who is the best dancer??? IT’S PARTY TIME! Our evening party is FREE to attend, Raye is sorting through a playlist so there will be J-pop, anime tracks, a bit of punk-rock, and even some Nightcore! So we expect to see lots of dancing! Please do come to this party, we really hope for a good turn-out to celebrate 2015! Best dancer will receive a prize!!! 10pm – Party ends and event ends – everyone goes home! Pub closes 11pm. Facilities: We will have the back room of the venue, complete with electricity, tables and chairs – the venue has toilet facilities and a bar as well as a garden area and car park. Drinks can be purchased at the main bar – they ID each time – alcohol is available – just be sensible as we are in a public pub they have the right to remove people from the premises. Food orders are un-certain at this point, but we are near a chippie and Sainsbury’s. Sadly, as the Griffin Pub has been recently taken over (this meet has been officially booked), if they do cancel our booking for any reason, AniMedia East and those who run the event are not liable for any costs – it would be out of our hands. Money!!! There is a cash machine available at the nearby Sainsbury’s (5 minute walk) should anyone run out on the day, please bring as much cash and change as possible for the pub, bring and buy, cakes! Transport! Morning/Afternoon If you are coming from the Norwich Train Station/Castle Meadow/St Stephens then there is an easy bus route to The Griffin Pub on 212 Yarmouth Road - NR7 0SN (Bus examples are Konnect 52 or First Bus 15/15A) As you will see on Google maps the bus stop is just after the pub, so ask to be dropped off at the Griffin when you board the bus (sometimes they will do that!) Evening transport – keep in mind buses stop running around 5pm. So if you plan on staying later, you might want to pre-book a taxi.
