Dear future me, and a Dear *anyone*,

Dear Future Me,

I hope you’ve managed to find an apartment that makes you happy. Right now you’re being extremely picky with reviews and neighborhoods, and I hope it ends up being worth it in spite of the extra time spent living at home. Hopefully you and Cory enjoyed the Cruise and have another vacation lined up!

You’ve learned by now that toxic people are not worth keeping in your life, but family is not so easy. I hope with the inevitable move that you’ve been able to go low/structured contact with Mom. Don’t be fooled if there are weeks or even months where she acts semi-normal...it’s never going to change.

Tell Cory you love him. You probably still tell him that ten thousand times a day, but what’s one more for good measure? Hopefully he will have moved up and away from his current job. It’s not bad at all for a recent grad, but you know he has it in him to get something even better.

Get your Skyrim mods and TS4 custom content transferred onto the new computer, because with the way I’ve been putting it off I *know* you won’t have done it yet.

Dear Cory,

I know I tell you that I love you all the time, I just hope you know how much I mean it. When we first met and you moved your seat to sit next to me, I was so flattered...and completely uninterested. I am glad I got to know the real you more over the summer and then opened up to the idea of being in a relationship the following semester. 

I was a graduating senior living hours from home, and the last thing I wanted was to start something with some guy from my Marketing class. I was so sure that we would date for six months and then break up with when I moved back to NC. Who could have guessed that we’d be here now, over two years later and living together?

I am always telling you about the little things that I love about you. Like the fact that you have been living under a media rock your whole life, so every song or movie I recommend is totally new to you. Or your gingerness, which I tease you about but you know I really love. I hope you know that it’s a lot more than that, that you accept me completely, more than anyone ever has, and that you are so devoted to nurturing our relationship and creating a life together.

Wherever I see myself going, I see you by my side.

That, however, doesn’t mean that something other than a bucket can be referred to as a bucket, as is the case with furniture.

In other words, a bucket can mean something other than the container, so you can still be a bucket without being that kind of bucket.
