Headcanon questions meme: 🎐📿🌪️ for Ani?

[ 🎐 ]ㅤ.ㅤdo they have a sound, like a song or voice, that they associate with peace ? It's a bit of a strange one, but the click of a lighter. Prior to the village's destruction they usually snuck off to enjoy some scenery when they smoked. It's much the same now, they usually only smoke alone on the deck- Or with Lusien, lol.

[ 📿 ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat superstition or ritual do they cling to ? Karma and some of the traditional aspects of kalaripayattu might fall under that? I wouldn't say they cling to it though. It's just part of their beliefs.

[ 🌪️ ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat’s the one choice they regret (not) making ? Honestly, Ani has largely processed and come to peace with the decisions they made and released a lot of their regrets. The grief and pain is still there and always will be, of course, but they've made long strides towards healing.

There's still a tinge of regret at leaving the village for the final time, but it's becoming less of a burden and more of a resolve. Eventually, they'll return and rebuild again.

Are any of your trolls hemoloyal and if so, why?

Ani’s kinda hemoloyal? In the sense that they’re afraid of highbloods and thus more polite to them/expecting the worst of them

Snart is...Snart. Honestly he just loves the excuse to hurt people. He does see lowbloods as naturally inferior but honestly it’s not that deep-rooted and it was shaken when he had that crush on Frappe

His sadistic nature is what’s deep-rooted lmao

When Ani was young, their village was home to a rebel group. They actually weren’t aware of this since it was generally kept quiet and they also thought that it was normal to be so anti-empire

Some time after he was scooped up by pirates for his weather-control psionics (probably when he was about 4-5 sweeps) the rebels were found out and the village destroyed

When ani was about 7 he managed to escape from the pirates and return to his village, only to find buildings burned down long ago and most of the inhabitants dead. there were a few wrigglers who’d crawled up out of the tunnels and moved in, as well as some survivors who were too young to be considered rebels

and from there he began acting as village head :v

Anirus Hyderi, aka Ani, is the current captain of the SV Thunderstroke, a small merchant vessel.

They weren't always such- In their earliest sweeps, they lived in a small jungle village occupied primarily by rebels. They were kidnapped by pirates for their weather-control psionics- Incredibly useful on the high seas where you're at the weather's mercy.

They escaped as a teenager and returned to their village, only to find it had been razed by the Fleet during their absence. They gathered the few wrigglers who'd settled in the destroyed hives and began to rebuild. Only for the village to be bombed again by Altira, due to Ani's affiliation with Aelynn (@celestialtrolls).

Once they got back on their feet after that, they went back to a life on the ocean. After an impromptu mutiny against their oppressive highblood captain, the ship now known as the Thunderstroke was seized and Ani was voted to captain her.

Despite their Resting Bitch Face, Ani is quite sweet and friendly, and largely pacifistic- They won't use violence, much less lethal force, if they can help it. They are also, however, highly skilled in kalaripayattu and of course have their potent weather control psionics.

For the major arcana meme: The magician, the lovers, temperance, the star, and the world for Ani?

[THE MAGICIAN] - Do they self-sabatoge, or do they sabatoge others in their lives? If so, how? Ani tends to self-sabotage via anxiety and overthinking, paralyzing themselves out of fear. It takes a lot of time to get to that point though, and they don't do it so much anymore.

They don't purposefully sabotage others though, and they'd be horrified if it were pointed out that they might do so accidentally.

[THE LOVERS] - Are they a good communicator, or do they tend to crack under pressure? They're good at least with important/work related things. They're so used to keeping their feelings checked and invisible that they often completely forget to communicate those, but once they realized they'd been holding it in they'd talk about it.

[TEMPERANCE] - Do they tend to think in a polarized manner, or do they attempt to navigate the nuance of whatever troubles them? They tend to carefully consider their feelings and troubles and then purposefully pack them away. If anything, they should consider the nuances less.

[THE STAR] - Are they faithful? If so, to who/to what, and how do they show it? They're deeply faithful- To Lusien, to their ship and crew. They show it by always coming back, until it's time that they let it go.

[THE WORLD] - What are they missing in life? What one thing, if anything, is the "key" to their success? Well... Time. Ani will still need a lot of time to heal, but they have that time available to them, and they'll live a long and happy life. Probably.

🐾 Ani..

Ani's lusus is actually one of my favorites, tbh. See, Ani thought their first memories were of their lusus watching over them, though as an adult they recalled that 'their' lusus was weirdly distant and looked a bit different than he does now. Because what Ani was remembering was their ancestor's lusus, having outlived their charge to wait for the next Hyderi. Ani's actual lusus was still just a puppy at that point, making Ani and their lusus about the same age.

The two of them actually view each other more like siblings. Lots of rough-housing once Ani and their actual lusus were introduced, and there were many other actual adults in Ani's early life (The rebels of their village) to watch over them proper.

Then Ani was kidnapped, and their lusus spent sweeps diligently waiting, surviving the first bombing of the village and guiding wrigglers there so Ani would have something other than ruins to come back to. And Ani did come back! Now their lusus hates to leave their side (Though he will, if Ani needs him to).

He now lives on Ani's ship with them. He's usually quite friendly and doesn't appear to be all that protective of Ani, but he watches everyone who comes near them closely. Impeccable vibes sense, one of the few people he's bitten was Lusien, when he was fucked up on eldritch bullshit.

Fun fact, these guys can grow (or shed) a big thick coat of wool that makes them look more like a sheep. Historically this species would mingle in sheep flocks and pick them off one by one, but as lusii they become flock guardians.

It's one of my favorite lusus choices because Ani themselves is a wolf in sheep's clothing- They're one of my best martial combatants, presently surpassed in skill only by Okahni.

04. What are their favorite traits about their lover? (one psychological and one physical)

Ani likes how kind and accepting Lucy is. And physically, they like his hair. They think the white streak is handsome and that it's nice to put their fingers in and play with :)

18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode?

I don't think they have much preference for the style of home, as long as it's home- But placement, they miss living on the jungle cliffs. If you climbed high enough you could just see the sea, and they miss those sorts of little things.

20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?

They like most animals and are pretty fond of dogs. Growing up they had a particular fascination with phoenixes and swear up and down they saw one flying over the village (a very long time ago)

30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like?

They're not very familiar with film or theater, and the kind of music they are familiar with is.. Well, sea shanties and whatever music was played by the pirates they grew up with.

38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc?

They like any! Which is the say they can see the beauty in pretty much any kind of weather. If you ask them they can tell you what atmospheric phenomena is causing the weather at the moment, or so on. I think they do particularly like partially cloudy days, where the moon shines off the clouds n really illuminates them.

47. Is your character outgoing? Would they be the leader of the friend group, or the quiet one that gets dragged along?

Sort of in the middle? For lacking any other leadership they'll step up, but otherwise they're kind of quiet and don't really make waves.

[THE MAGICIAN] - Do they self-sabatoge, or do they sabatoge others in their lives? If so, how?

My god, do they self-sabotage. They frequently second-guess their actions and the impact they have, which can lead to inaction. If they sabotaged anyone else though, it wouldn't be intentional and honestly they'd be horrified.

[JUSTICE] - What do they need to be held accountable for? What actions, if any, do they deny responsibility for?

If anything, Ani takes too much responsibility. They will shoulder the burdens that are not theirs, both in a manner that is kind and unkind (to themselves). So I suppose that, in and of itself, they need to face.
