This week’s Females of Metal Friday is Jessie Williams, vocalist for the band Ankor from Catalonia, Spain.
Ankor was founded in 2003, with Jessie joining the band in 2014. With a mix of cleans, screams and growls, Jessie is quite the talented vocalist. With energy and stage presence, she provides an exciting performance to the band’s live shows.
As is often the case, and as more of these posts pile up, I’m just now learning about these bands, and it’s been a great way to discover new music and talent. I hope these posts have had the same impact on those who have liked, commented and shared them.
That’s it for this week. Until next week…. Long Live Metal!!🤘🤘🤘
Head of a Follower of Shiva, Cambodia, Angkor, 10th century, Khmer Empire. Cleveland Museum of Art (ID: 2012.294)
Khmer patrons and artists produced works of art that could depict either a deified king or a god who has royal attributes. The Khmer cult of the god-king allowed for such fluidity of interpretation. Presence of a third eye in the forehead and matted locks of hair are attributes both of the Hindu god Shiva and the followers who emulated him in order to get closer to him. (Cleveland Museum of Art)

An older lesbian told me she loved my hair while I was cleaning up in the bathroom and then she showed me all her cool metal skeleton hair pins 😭
Oblivion - Chapter 3, Ankor
Where is the silence that used to hurt? The chains that tied me down to the ground Everything is quiet, but I'm diving inside a storm, I (Pain that tied me) Fly like a bird (Down to the ground), feel like a worm Pain that tied me down to the ground I'm lost in my own mind, between these lines And words that I say to leave all behind (You'll be okay) I'll be okay (You’ll be okay), I’ll be okay I'll be okay (Run to them)
Pulling strings to make me dance to your tune No other way to win, you have to play my beat
