Portrait of a South African Woman by Anna Rose
Anna Rose
I figured Alana's fall from grace needed to include losing all her fancy accoutrements, and she still needed to have the same kind of heavy tattooing as Anna Rose does. Becoming a non-entity in Dwarven culture probably requires the loss of your finery - and the fancier your hair, the greater the insult to lose it. Plus, y'know, darkspawn gut spillage.
I also realised I was thinking too hard about her romance. Alana wouldn't want an equal so much as someone she could consider an 'unproblematic asset'. Nice to look at, won't challenge her much, and ready to support her rather than be overly argumentative. Helps if they make her laugh... and could help her regain her status, if not rise even higher.
Instantly, I had my answer.
