Neues Deutsches Orchester; ca. 1899 Gefunden im Nachlass von Frau Anna Sofia Falk

@hadestentia A group picture of the most important people of the orchestra! Finally! 

I didn’t know whether I should post it with or without the writing, so I did both. The writing is in hell cursive Kurrent, so it may be hard to read.

I guess the writing was done by either Gustav or Albert a few years after the picture was taken.

It’s a doodle of Anna with her grandkids!

Anna Sofia's adopted son Gustav moved to the US in the 1920s. He, his wife, and his children try to visit his aging mother back in Germany as often as possible. Their oldest daughter Anna was named after her, as well as a after good friend of Gustav's. Anna Falkenhorst, the wife of his best friend Friedrich Ackermann. Anna is especially close to her grandma since she remembers spending a lot of time with her before moving to the USA. Their only son, Johann, was named after Olivia's (Gustav's wife's) father, even though Anna Sofia is reminded of Johann Galler. Johann is very close to Albert, who is the honorary grandfather of the family. Albert tears up a little when little Johann calls him Opa. Finally their youngest daughter, Elisabeth, was named after Olivia's mother. When she's older, Elisabeth inherits her grandma's violin, which Albert brings to the States after Anna Sofia's death in 1936. Elisabeth becomes a famous violinist just like her.

The kids are missing and so are some less planned out characters, but LOOK, it’s Johann’s mom Ottilie and Anna’s adopted son Gustav (Who’s eye is supposed to look like that). Also Antoinette. Antoinette is a cutie.

So, after I drew Johann some time ago, here’s Anna Sofia over the course of 19 years.

Apparently the 1880s were as weird hair-wise as the 1980s were.

Anna is a successful violinist and wants to be as independent as possible. There’s only one real problem: She’s blind. She ends up hiring Albert (the most unqualified person ever) and they actually get along.

Johann doesn’t like her.
