It was a quiet day in the forensics lab. Brooke was bent over a light-table, goggles over her eyes to help her see, squinting at bone fragments. This cranial reconstruction was harder than had been originally thought. There were hundreds of tiny fragments that weren’t fitting together, and she was beginning to think that the department had mixed up cranial bone with something else.
She heard someone enter the lab, but didn’t look up. “What do you need? I’m a bit busy, so talk fast.” Brooke was expecting it to be one of her assistants or the chief of police or a fed.

She had requested for no visitors to come anywhere near her office. It was a bad day for her. Half real memories had decided to come up and ruin her mood, throwing her back into her first regeneration's mindset. Hearing footsteps near her door, she turned, body tense and on edge, ready to defend herself.
