Whoopsie doodle how did I never post this??
I've been watching a channel for a while now called Subjectively. While they deal in character design philosophy as a whole, I'm particularly enthralled with their fakemon designs, and the lessons they impart in relation to that. I'd come up with this idea for an electric hummingbird pokemon once upon a time, but was never fond of the outcome. Applying the lessons I learned there though... I really like this outcome! I think its just about a believable pokemon.
Annagee: The Darting Pokemon
Type: Electric/Flying
Abilities: Sap Sipper/Motor Drive/(H)Infiltrator
Intended to function as a high speed physical glass cannon.
Annagee are skittish, flighty pokemon by nature, who tend to avoid humans. Their blistering speed, coupled with this lack of trust, lead people to once believe they had no legs at all, only lightning bolt tails. Despite this shyness around humans, they are also showboaters, proud of both their speed and colors. In order to impress potential mates, they will fly as high as they can, before rocketing down to the ground. As they veer back up, the resulting stunt produces a sound not unlike a thunder clap, with a rainbow burst of pinks and greens accompanying the display.
Vase, Ann Agee, 2011, Brooklyn Museum: Decorative Arts
A hand-built vase, the open top in an asymmetrical wavy pattern evocative of the silhouette of a flower arrangement, finished along the outer rim with an applied porcelain ribbon molding with incised freehand vertical lines. The neck decorated with incised vertical lines above a central cartouche with an applied flower surrounded by an ovoid garland of small applied buds, flanked either side by two applied oak leaves. The back decorated around the neck and sides with an applied ribbon molding with incised vertical lines, also used to create a plain circular cartouche at center. The ovoid body of the vase tapers towards the foot, above a flaring round base decorated with evenly spaced concave circles and finished above and below with an incised molding of freehand vertical lines.
