I’ve Got the Bug (for Music Bugs!)
Monday mornings have been most welcome the past few months. I know how that sounds; we all dread Mondays. However, I’ve been able to Sing Myself a Smile, clap, click, laugh and bond with my baby girl in a very special way.
Music Bugs Doncaster is an amazing class - sorry, spectacle! - for babies, children and their parents/ carers. I have been lucky enough to experience Music Bugs faciliated by the lovely, smiley, energetic Anna Murray. The lady is fantastic. She is welcoming, happy, fun and leads each class in such a smooth fashion, that I don’t ever notice that she’s cleared away one activity and led us on to the next within seconds!
As an ex-Gymboree teacher, I can see that Anna is at the top of her game. There is a clear order to each class but, let’s face it: routine is so important for our little ones, right?! The classes begin with a Hello song and then a sound-focus. *Cue instrumental tracking, singing and smiling!* After that, we all join in with the classic, Sing Yourself a Smile, a reggae-esque ballad that is uplifting and incredibly melodic. Anna - your voice is smashing, girl!
From there, we are taken into a symbolic world; a puppet with supporting songs, mayhaps, before we are immersed into a colourful, songful and joyful world of creative, sensory goodness. Layer upon layer of toys, parachutes, bubbles and song - this is most definitely my favourite part of the class and is equally my baby’s favourite part. There is so much to do and explore, with important, developmental factors: exploratory play, tactile play, sensory play, texture-manipulation, visual, spacial and social play. What a glorious mix of ingredients to throw into the Developmental Pot.
Anna does something incredibly clever upon completion of this section of the class - she spills instruments around the circle for everyone to enjoy, as well as giving us grown ups the opportunity to demonstrate the different ways in which the instruments work, to our own little Buglets.
I love the classes and I love Anna. The classes are appropriate to children’s age ranges/ developmental stages: Baby Bugs, Mini Bugs, Jumping Bugs, as well as Family Bugs .
I highly suggest you book now! and equally catch the (Music) BUG!
P.S They also do parties!
Music Bugs work with the charity, Tommy’s.
