FIVE PEOPLE KILLED IN A SHOOTING AT CAPITAL GAZETTE NEWSPAPER IN ANNAPOLIS
Five people were dead and at least two others were wounded in a shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, Md., officials announced at a news conference Thursday afternoon. Acting Anne Arundel County Police Chief William Krampf confirmed an adult male suspect is in custody and being interrogated by law enforcement. At a later news conference, Krampf said the suspect used a shotgun and had smoke grenades. "This was a targeted attack," he said. The newspaper had received threats through social media on Thursday, according to Krampf, who would describe them only as "general threats toward the Capital" that "indicated violence." Police are working to confirm who sent the threats reported news website npr.org Image Courtesy: Heavy.com Read the full article
Heartbroken in #Annapolis
My hometown was hit hard today. My day job is in Annapolis. We have family dental providers in that building, not to mention the reporters and employees of #TheCapitalGazette who were targeted.
They are fellow writers and artists who stand up for this community, who promote the arts in my community and who genuinely care about Anne Arundel County residents. I am shocked, appalled and absolutely heartbroken. I never ever thought it would happen here. Ever.
Maryland, what is going on? Where did our sense of pride and community go? I am honestly considering moving my family away from my home. Our home because my husband grew up here; I raised my daughter here and we want to raise my step-sons here where our hearts and history are, but not if it's not safe anymore ....
