KCRW DJ Anne Litt interviews Brett Morgen, the director of Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck. The film is a chilling look into the past of one of Rock's most influential icons and is one of only a small number of authorized Kurt Cobain documentaries by the late grunge rockers estate.

Filmmaker Noah Baumach joined KCRW's Anne Litt to talk about his long friendship with musicians Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips, which has led to cameo appearances and musical contributions in all of his films, including "Mistress America," which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

KCRW is at the Sundance Film Festival to host a series of music showcases and live broadcasts, as well as Happy Hour DJ sets.
If you’re in sunny LA, you can tune in to hear Anne Litt’s show (noon to 3pm on Sat and Sun) live from the KCRW Studio at the Acura Prism in Park City for music programming inspired by the 200 films featured at the festival, as well as interviews with actors, directors, and musicians with ties to the featured films.
Jason Bentley will host Morning Becomes Eclectic live (9am to noon PT) from our snowy outpost on Monday, January 20.
Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche has composed music for the film The Sleepwalker, directed by his wife Mona Fastvold. The soundtrack is out, and includes the haunting, atmospheric track “Palindromes”, unlike the bouncy pop that first put him on KCRW’s radar. Since then he’s released a jazz album, explored many other genres, and composed the musical score of the movie “Dan in Real Life” and so it’s not a complete surprise to hear this ambient instrumental work.
Nashville’s Wild Cub play infectious electro-pop and will release an expanded version of their debut full length album, “Youth”, next week on Mom + Pop Music. They were just featured in the New York Times and frontman Keegan DeWitt scored TWO films at Sundance this year — “Good Life” (a doc for HBO) and “This Is Martin Bonner” (a narrative in the NEXT category).
DJ Mario Cotto calls Baltmiore-based musician Dan Deacon a “hippie electro-wizard,” saying he builds “a cyclone of euphoric synthetic sounds” in his DJ sets. At the festival he’s hosting a workshop on “How to Lose Your Inhibition”, which tells you almost everything you need to know about him.
The world premiere of the film “Finding Fela!“, which honors the music of Afro-Beat legend Fela Kuti, will take place at Sundance. The 12-piece Fela! Band, featuring musicians who toured behind the theatrical production of the Fela! musical, will be on hand performing music from the film.
LA-based Composer/Producer Carmen Rizzo has worked with a wide range of artists –everyone from Paul Oakenfold to Ryuichi Sakamoto and Pete Townshend of The Who. In his solo work, he favors a lush, cinematic electronica sound.
If you’re at Sundance, you can also catch Guest DJ sets from Grammy-nominated EDM artist Kaskade and Golden Globe winner Alex Ebert (of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) from the Acura Prism on Saturday, January 18.
