Can you please write a story about Anne and Tim?
Someone sent me a request for my incredible literature?!?! It’s what I deserve.
Once upon a time there was a princess called Anne. She was married to a man called The Captain. The Captain only wore military uniform and used a whistle to call people.
One day The Captain was at a special dinner with Liz, Phil and some other royals. They were eating on a big table carved by paupers.
‘Pass the sprouts please’ yelled The Captain.
Everyone was too busy talking about the latest Chuck and Di drama. Anne couldn’t hear because her bouffant was clogging her ears.
The Captain got pissed off and blew his whistle. Then he shouted ‘PASS THE SPROUTS’.
Unfortunately the sprouts were in the hands of the one and only Liz. Everyone clutched their pearls at this disrespect to the queen.
‘Bad manners’ scolded Anne. ‘Separation! Now!’.
At that moment, a man walked in to ask Liz about something to do with boats. He was tall, dark and handsome. It was Liz’s equerry Timmy Laurence.
Anne’s nethers fluttered as they locked eyes across the pauper table. It was love at first sight.
The next day Anne was walking about doing horse stuff when she saw Timmy shining some medals.
‘Very shiny jewels’ Anne said.
Timmy blushed and his nethers smiled.
‘I need some help with horsey things’ said Anne.
‘I am sorry, I am not a fan of horses’ said Timmy.
Anne could have screamed. How could she be in love with a man who was not into horses? She ran away from Timmy and his jewels.
The day after that Anne was combing her bouffant when there was a commotion out of the window.
‘Anne Anne my love!’
‘Who the busybody is that!’ Anne scowled.
She looked out the window and there on the grass was Timmy in full cowboy gear on the back of a horse. It was going wild like a bucking bronco.
‘What the fuck are you doing! Get off that horse!’ Anne screamed so loud that Fergie heard her while she was prancing in a nearby field.
Timmy tried to stop the horse but he couldn’t. Anne marched outside and held her hand out to the horse ‘stop!’.
The horse stopped and bowed to Anne and Timmy slid down it’s head.
‘I am sorry I wanted to demonstrate my love for you’ said Timmy.
‘It is not romantic to get your nethers crushed, a girl has to eat!’ said Anne.
Timmy laughed ‘ho ho ho’.
Anne’s heart of steel was melted by Timmy’s chaps and dedication to horsey stuff.
‘Will u marry me Anne?’ said Timmy.
‘Gimme a few years, let’s have a secret love affair first, ok?’
‘Sure thing my love’.
Anne got on the horse and Timmy sat behind her, being careful not to squish his nethers.
They rode off into the sunset, accidentally on purpose almost trampling Fergie on their way.
The end xoxo
I’m only here today to watch @princessanneftw and @annefic freak out over Anne’s birthday documentary thank you very much
Secret Santa
Let me just ramble to you. Throw out some things. You can reject them all if you please, it’s you that has to write and enjoy yourself writing. This is just some stuff to get your creativity flowing So I am definitely here to read some shirbert. I do prefer for them to be aged up a little bit. 17 at the youngest. But I do think there is a lack of good fics about them in other times of their life. Young adults, newlyweds, being parents together, being parents of adult children together, etc. LMM was a tease in the books and we didn’t get those sweet intimate moments of just Anne and Gil together wrapping their kids Christmas presents in secret, just being a Blythe Family Mom&Dad Team! If you want to write something holiday themed that could be sweet. I would be interested in seeing them trying to be community leaders in progressivism. Standing up for minorities, women, those left vulnerable by society.
I like situations where Gilbert learns more about Anne’s terrible past. Like if he learns that she never experienced Christmas before Green Gables. And now she is REALLY into Christmas hardcore because it’s all about winter beauty and family and love and she is 100% in. How does that make him feel? Humbled and smitten? Determined to make all of her future Christmases happy?
Maybe something simple like a study session between the two of them. An anatomy and physiology study session. Or maybe Anne reading erotic poetry, feeling confident and unashamed of the eroticism because she’s a poetical, romantical, artistic person and everyone else is scandalized. She’s just confused about their reaction. What would Gilbert’s reaction be? I like the idea of Mary complaining about the details of pregnancy because Gilbert is curious about it from an obstetrics point of view. He wants to learn all about it. But Anne is just scarlet in the face hearing Mary talk about cracked nipples and everything else with Gilbert right there. Maybe even some “when it’s *your* turn, Anne” to make her even more embarrassed. Ooooh! And Anne being so embarrassed that she proclaims that she will NEVER have children because she is independent, etc, and probably won’t find a husband who can ride with her like that. But it makes her sad because secretly she does want to be a mother one day.
Hell, I like reading Gilbert get really embarrassed in front of Anne! I love when he is insecure. Or even jealous. I never get tired of jealous Gilbert. But not toooo insecure. He is still a baller and must remain the real deal.
I wish there was a way for Gilbert and Anne (at the point of their relationship that they are in towards the end of Season 2) to see their mutual future. Through a vision from a fortune teller, witch, or some sort of shaman figure. Anything, really. I want to see them both “spy” on their married-with-kids future and know that the other one saw it too. What would their reactions be? How much did they see? Did they see... everything?? I want to see this idea maxed out.
I like that Anne loves domestic things like cooking and decorating. I like that she doesn’t rebel from them for being stereotypically feminine. I like the idea of she and Gilbert experimenting with international cuisine for each other to try. Ooooh. Maybe Anne throwing a dinner party for all of her closest friends after the loss of Aunt Josephine. Maybe she wants to start up the tradition for herself but on an Anne budget so she wants to throw a wonderful dinner party for the exchange of ideas, curating of art, etc and it looks like the tea party she threw for Diana only all over the first floor of the house. Garlands and wreaths and floral/fauna displays that she managed to grow or pick herself, or collected by the other girls. A several course dinner where each course is a delicacy from another culture. New interesting music on a phonograph for Diana and co. play it live. Aaaaall low budget edition. I could see this beginning in college so none of her guests are kids, they’re all college age at least. Maybe Anne works SO hard trying to pour herself into the party and it’s falling apart, it’s nothing like Josephine’s party, only 6-10 people are there max, she struggled to cook all of that stuff for everyone and it doesn’t run smoothly and she needs a little comfort when she feels she has failed. Gilbert loves every minute of it, thinks it’s A++ per usual and has to give her a little pep talk in the pantry and she hugs him. The rest of the evening takes a more casual vibe and everyone has a blast just chilling by the fireplace and socializing and it turns out to be the best party she’s ever been to because of the chill vibe and she and Gilbert just smile at each other from across the room and he’s thinking to himself how much fun his life would be if she were his wife and they could do this kind of thing all the time.
That’s all I can think of from the top of my head for now. Ask me some more questions, nonny/Secret Sanna
Agree. Princess Anne deserves more recognition for her insane work ethic and work with her causes. And I love that she's not the typical royal woman/princess/duchess. Ride in a carriage during trooping? Nope, she's gonna ride a horse with the boys. Love her!
She works a ton, definitely, and she’s a huge badass. I think there is something to be said about conflating work rate (i.e. quantity) with work content (i.e. quality) but she definitely pulls her weight in the Royal Family. I love the fact that she disrupted centuries of princess norms because she’d be damned if she didn’t do something her brothers did just because she’s a woman. I love watching her ride a horse during Trooping. If you want more quality Anne material on your dash look no further than @princessanneftw and @annefic (who not only love the Princess Royal, but who are also both absolutely hilarious lmao)
@annefic I blame you for the fact that my list of “recommended blogs” currently has not one, not two, but THREE blogs about DUCKS hahahahah
Royal Fandom Positivity Project ↠ [48/∞]
I’m about as scared of this blog as I am of Anne, which is to say, a lot (@annefic)
Anne terrifies me and everyone who has a blog dedicated to Anne terrifies me. I think Anne would like that. This is one of those rare blogs where the blogger has met the bloggee and also the funniest story, in my opinion. This blog is full of Anne information, full of Anne and Tim pictures, full of Anne’s girl squad love. The blogger defends Anne as fiercely as I would Kate and I have a lot of respect for people who blog about royals with less of a media presence.
Secret Santa here!! I saw your long post (to which I say THANK YOU SO MUCH OH MY GOD), and you mentioned about seeing them as parents and such. Do you have a favourite of their kids?? I haven’t actually read all the books so that’ll be subject to some research but I was wondering if you’re particularly partial to any of them or have a particular headcanon about them and such. Have a good day!!
I usually "go with" canon for their kids. I don't know why but the thought of going off-canon for their kids is really weird to me. I don't really have a favorite kid. Walter is the sweet, sensitive, poetical son so there is always a soft spot there. I feel the books let me down on all of those sweet little fatherly moments I wanted with Gilbert. Seeing him fall into fatherhood would be soooooo beautiful. Their first child (that lives) is a little redheaded boy named Jem. He is kind of mischievous with all the boyish charms and confidence. Kind of a redheaded version of Gilbert when he was little. I am obsessed with the idea of Gilbert being out with Jem when he is very small and just having a father-son date like fishing or something. And it basically being a big emotional thing for Gilbert, who is thinking, 'how do I be for Jem what my father was for me?' And just trying really hard to be the pater familia. And feeling close to his own father as he teaches, guides, cares for his kids. That would be a very beautiful aspect of Gilbert to see. But all the kids came one after another so Jem would have to be like a three year old or something. Also, it is briefly mentioned that Di, being their only truly redheaded daughter, is possibly Gilbert's favorite because of her resemblance to Anne. I think only Jem and Di are redheads and the others have shades of brown. Anyway, you'll enjoy your research.
Do whatever you want with Parents!shirbert but I will just say I want to see the fluff and the cute romantic stuff between them as parents. Even if it's just Gilbert's existential feelings on his children being half-Anne and how he feels about that. He had a hard time understanding Walter because he was a poetical soul and not so much the rough and tumble boy that he used to be. But I would be interested in seeing how much Gilbert loves and admires him rather than worrying about him being too soft, like the books imply.
Or how he feels about pregnant Anne. She could always be pregnant with one of the last two babies in the story. Shirley, their next to last kid, was a very difficult pregnancy for Anne and I think it stressed out Gilbert (in the tv show he loses his mother to childbirth, so that could be a really interesting POV).
But I am not a stickler for the books, really! Anne leads a boring, domestic life with no personal dreams in the book. I'm not here for that. So paint their future together the way YOU want. Is Anne a published author? A teacher? Is she taking maternity leave? Do it your way.
That is if you are even writing a kid fic. This is all your choice. I love the idea of Di having Gilbert wrapped around her little finger because she favors Anne so much. I can just imagine her wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek and chatting away just like a mini Anne about little girl's affairs and him being puddy in her hands, melting when she gives him a little homemade token of affection for him. My dad used to let me put hair bows in his hair while he was working and he would forget I had put them there and walk around. His office at the house is a sacred space where he cannot be disturbed as he works but he often leaves the door ajar and is in there reading medical journal stuff. I can imagine him allowing Di and Nan to come in and play if they promise to be very quiet and they put bows and things in his hair and beautify him. He would just let them do it because he can't say no to those faces. I don't know.
Oh! True story! This is canon: Gilbert dresses up as Santa for their kids. I think that's in Ingleside or Rainbow Valley. He puts on a Santa suit and comes out of his office and pretends to be Father Christmas for his kids. I'm telling you, we were robbed of the behind the scenes conversations between he and Anne! I want to see them co-conspire to make their kids childhoods everything they hope it will be. And just be partners in crime, chatting about each of their kids, something they did recently, observations on their little personalities, their foibles and strengths. That's one thing sweet about parenthood, your partner is the only other person (other than grandparents, perhaps) who are just as interested and invested in these little people as you are. It can be very unifying. The "Shirley pointed right at Jem today and said 'baba'. I think he was trying to call him brother!" Type conversations that would bore anyone else. Like how you both call spaghetti 'stapetti' because one of your toddlers says it that way and it's just a family thing now and you barely even say it ironically anymore. "Jem says he wants to do football this year. He's also been asking for a puppy." "I don't think he's ready for the responsibility." And "Nan is stuck on a boy at school" and all of those fun conversations.
I don't know. Whatever you want. You could do their engagement period while Gilbert is away at medical school. You're not forced to do a kid fic or anything. It would require a bit of research on the kids and their personalities and age gaps. Not too hard, I guess.
Hell, you could scrap it all and do Anne set in a different decade. Not just original time line and Modern AU. Like Anne in the 60s or 70s.
Or Anne and Gilbert in space! Astronauts stuck on the International Space Station together. She doesn't like him at first but over time he finally manages to make her his tentative friend. There aren't many people on the ISS so it's close quarters and they are together for months. They have both accomplished their dreams by even being there and there are shared moments of wonder, discovered common interests, similar humor as they embark on projects they have to work together on. Maybe one night after he has finally weaseled his way into her heart they are looking out at the Earth together and they kiss.
Or they are aid workers in a crisis location. She thinks he's another pompous doctor who thinks of himself as a god among mortals, and she is just an aid worker, translator, or whatever who is there to instruct on hygeine, emergency education, a school for the children, all of that refugee management stuff. But when the heat is on, they both work together in tandem to provide emergency care to the community and realize that they work very well together... Maybe he's not so pompous. Maybe he really is just this really smart, really handsome guy with a huge heart. They're in danger, out there roughing it together. No comforts of home. Just a shared conviction to serve the most vulnerable. Just as it seems the action and high emotions may pull them together in a love-bond for the ages they are interrupted by one of the organization's directors, Anne's kind-of-boyfriend Roy Gardner, heir to the fortune of a prominent family of philanthropists, shows up and disrupts their budding love. Roy has a transfer for Anne that would put her closer with him. Her time in this refugee center could be over sooner than expected. And so many things left unspoken between her and Gilbert! Just that confusing look in his eye when he sees her and Roy! What should she do?
Also, an AU where Gilbert is a veterinarian, most commonly for the local farming community, and Anne is this pushy, fiery regular who comes in with every injured bird, mouse, squirrel, fox, and stray cat she comes across. He learns that she is a teacher for neuro divergent children, an animal rights activist, vegan, plant powered, community volunteer, and dreams of running for city council and buying a small farm for rescue animals. He is painfully in love with her but she's oblivious. He tries to hum-brag about being a doctor, having gone through so many years of medical school, etc to impress her. Show off by playing with some of the cuter animals when she comes in because he knows a guy holding a puppy has a much better chance of getting the girl. He keeps trying to be a dream beau- a square jawed, curly haired, muscular, softboi, animal loving, charming, panty melting dream beau but nothing seems to be working. She's way too cool for him. In the end he learns that she has had a big fat crush on him this whole time but was too shy to tell him. Happily ever after on their rescue farm as Gilbert and Anne pull out of the driveway with four of their dogs and a truck bed of 'Anne Blythe for City Council' signs.
Also Librarian!Anne during Gilbert's medical school years? She's so mysterious. So pretty. She always blushes when she is caught reading when she should be working. Her sexy cardigans and loafers. Her sexy reading glasses! So stern and unimpressed with all of his attempts to charm her. Why does she always look so annoyed with him? Oh, wow! She runs a literacy class one night a week. Who IS this redheaded literary siren? This keeper of knowledge? Gilbert dreams of a chance encounter between the book shelves with this flame haired Athena but she doesn't know he exists. He tries to settle for the easy way her quiet presence helps him study. Until he comes to learn that the way to heart could be literature and poetry. Why didn't he think of that before!?
You know, anything. Dealer's choice. I will make it unambiguous: I would LOOOOVE for whatever you write to include some sexy stuff. Some sweet, satisfying, sexy stuff. But if that's just not you, no problem. I won't ask anything of you that makes you uncomfortable.
By the way, now I want to read ALL of these stories. Whatever ones you don't write we should divvy up to other writers. Make it so!
