The Savage Rose - Unfold (1970)

The Savage Rose were a Danish psych/prog rock group who are hard to describe as their sound was constantly changing. Annisette's distinctive vocals are the one constant. Much of it isn't really to my taste, but I really like this baroque-country pop tune with a cycling harpsichord bit.

Annisette 8/100 #100daysofmusic Danish singer Annisette Koppel is one of the most significant female voices of the Danish music scene. My first encounter with the 69 year old singer was the 1972 Savage Rose album Dødens Triumf (Triumph of Death) which my mum had in her record collection. In 1995 a group of friends and I were hired to perform at Midtfyns Festival and we used the music from the album to accompany a very weird dance routine (not an original idea as the music was used for a nude ballet at the royal theatre in Copenhagen). As a journalist I’ve also had the pleasure of interviewing Annisette and I was looking very much forward to her performing at @tonderfestival last year but sadly she had to cancel due to illness. #the100dayproject #annisette #watercolorportrait #music #watercolor
