*sees you, stops chewing on my necklace*
I imagine that when you have a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, to Mateo it feels like he’s standing behind you and crossing his arms in front of your neck.
When you grab the fabric and pull it tighter around yourself, to him it feels like you’re clutching his arms and pulling him closer.
When you lay a blanket across your lap, to him it feels like laying down and burying his face in your stomach. Wrapping his arms tightly around your hips as your hands rest in his hair.
When you drape a blanket over your arm to carry it, it manifests as linking your arms together and walking side-by-side.
When you flop down onto your /bed/couch/chair and nuzzle your face into the covers, it feels like your trying to hug him. Even from two worlds away. God, he wishes he could hug you back.
And then one day, you get a new pair of glasses.

REAL he would be the one most acquainted with physical touch from you out of all the dateables I think. Betty and Koa are up there, but unlike them Mateo is something you can wrap around yourself, take with you, drape over your shoulders while you walk around the house or bundle up to bury your head into. He’d already consider you close friends before you got the glasses, and afterwards, he’d be overjoyed that he would finally be able to show you some affection back. I can imagine him being so comfortable with you he forgets that he’s practically a stranger to you, and instinctively rest his head on your shoulder or loop his arm with yours just because touch with you feels so natural. He’d be a little taken aback if you act nervous or confused about it, and have to take a moment to register that you don’t actually know him. Most of his rescues are just as affectionate, which usually ends with you buried under a pile you can’t escape from.
