I been neglecting my boooooy
how do you get yourself to start writing?? the translation of ideas to actual text has always been a sticky point for me and i’m curious as to how you do it?
ooph this is a really good question that i’m not sure how to answer but ima give it a try here it goes:
Just write. Literally anything. Bad writing is good writing because you’re writing. You can always edit it later. Just get it down on paper (or on computer). Get it out of your head and into words. From there you can form an actual story, but you can’t do anything if it’s still in your head. Sometimes it can help to just write down a stream-of-conciousness sort of guide, like an outline but way messier. Just word vomit on the paper. That way, you won’t forget where you were headed.
That said, I am terrible at following my own advice. I very rarely write outlines anymore, and my final draft is nearly identical to my first draft. This does not work for everyone. I feel like my writing process is somewhat unconventional and has a lot to do with the story sitting almost fully-fledged in my brain, so I might not be the best person to come to with this question.
Tl;dr: just WRITE. force yourself to get words down, even if it’s crappy. you can always fix it later.
I hope this helped in any way shape or form. Sorry if it didn’t.
Halloe halloe I’ve never drawn this fabulous man before
